Amy Lysle Smart is an American actress and ex-model who was born on March 26, 1976, in Topanga, California, to John Boden Smart and Judy Lysle Barrington. Smart has always been the curious type, while she was still little, she loved art and dreamt of exploring it to the fullest. She got some of her love for art from her mother Judy, who was a museum curator. Amy grew up with both her parents and her brother Adam Smart.

When Amy Smart was 10, she started taking ballet classes and according to her, it helped ease out her stage fright. She continued dancing throughout her days in middle school and high school as well. It was in high school that she started liking the idea of acting and she joined her high school drama club and acted in school plays. She also ventured into modeling just before she graduated from high school. After she finished high school, she went full-time into modeling but still had acting at the back of her mind. Her modeling job earned her lots of money and it took her out of the United States a lot, doing most of her jobs in Europe. During one of her jobs in Italy, she met Alison Larter, and they both became close friends. On their return to the United States, they started taking acting classes together.

Smart started going for auditions in the early 1990s but she barely secured any acting roles. After several failed auditions, she managed to get her first appearance on screen in 1993, when she appeared in the music video of It’s About Time by Lemonhead. Amy kept on going for auditions keeping her dream of becoming an actress alive. She eventually secured her first film role, a minor role in the television film Her Costly Affair in 1996. It then followed other minor roles in A&P and Campfire Tale, both in the same year. Amy Smart continued to play minor roles in films such as Starship Troopers, High Voltage, Varsity Blues and many other films.

Entering the 2000’s, Smart began to bag major roles, she secured a recurring role in the American TV show Felicity as Rudy. She played significant roles in Road Trip (2000), Rat Race (2001), Starsky& Hutch (2004) and in The Butterfly Effect (2004). She and co-starred in the 2005 romantic comedy film, Just Friends. She also co-starred alongside in Crank, in 2006, as Jason’s girlfriend. Smart went on to reprise her role as Eve Lydon in the film’s sequel, Crank: High Voltage, in 2009.

Amy Smart played the main role as Annie in the American TV show Smith, in 2006. She appeared in six episodes of Shameless between 2011 and 2012, as Jasmine Hollander. Amongst other films she has starred in are The Best Man, The Town, Mr. Stache, The Single Moms Club, and Hangman, as well as in TV shows such as Robot Chicken, Scrubs, Justified and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

In 2004, Amy Smart won the MTV Movie Awards for Best Kiss, for her work in Starsky& Hutch.
