Finn Balor is one wrestler whose cap is feathered with many championship titles reserved for only the best wrestlers. The Irish-born Wrestler became popular during his stint in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) where he emerged a 3-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and a 6-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion.

Balor’s decision to become a wrestler was one he made as a child. He then trained at NWA UK Hammerlock and in the year 2000, his professional career kicked-off with the promotion. Shortly after, he won the NWA British Commonwealth Heavyweight Championship.

The Journey of Finn Balor’s Wrestling Career

For a few years, Finn competed solely at NWA and during this period, he went on tours in the UK, US, and Ireland. His career took a turn in 2006 when he signed a contract with NJPW; promoters had seen him on his debut fight on television for MWF Ultra, an American wrestling promotion company.

Initially, Balor recorded a series of losses that almost cost him his career in the Japan wrestling scene, but he was able to turn things around. He started gaining a lot of attention after he created a tag team called Apollo 55 with Ryusuke Taguchi. Together, they won and for a long time, held the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship on several occasions. To be precise, they won the title four times and successfully defended it 7 times.

In 2013, Finn Balor became the first wrestler to hold the IWGP Junior Heavyweight and the IWGP Heavyweight Championships simultaneously. With that, he earned the attention of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and made his debut thereof on the 23rd of October 2014. It was at this point that he took on the name Finn Balor.

Details of The Recent Losses He Suffered

In the course of his career, Finn Balor has competed in several wrestling promotions. He has won a handful of championship titles and has equally lost a decent measure of such title matches. Those who have been keeping up with his career would agree that one of his notable losses happened in 2017 when he was defeated by Bray Wyatt.

But then, the two went against each other again in 2017’s Summerslam and Finn redeemed himself. He triumphed over Wyatt and again defeated him at 2017’s No Mercy, a per-per-view wrestling event.

At 2017’s Extreme Rules event, Finn Balor competed in a five-way match to become the number one contender for Universal Championship. However, he failed to emerge the winner as he passed out from Samoa Joe’s Coquina Clutch. Later that year, the wrestler lost to Bobby Lashley at an Intercontinental Championship rematch. 2019’s Extreme Rules debut fight saw Finn encounter another loss, this time he lost to Shinsuke Nakamura in a championship match. That same year in SummerSlam, he lost to Bray Wyatt in a highly-anticipated match.

How Injuries Affected Finn Balor’s Career

It is common knowledge that injuries are a big part of any sporting activity; for wrestling, there are higher chances of getting injured. Finn has had a fair share of injuries since he became a professional wrestler and it has been speculated that the injuries he suffered are partly responsible for the losses he has been bagging of late.

After almost a year-long rest due to the injury he sustained at the 2016 SummerSlam WWE Universal Championship, Balor suffered another in April 2018 when he battled Jinder Mahal. He had a concussion after getting hit in the face repeatedly. To the best of our knowledge, the wrestler is in good shape, he defeated Matt Riddle recently at 2019’s TakeOver: WarGames.

Who Is The Wrestler’s Wife?

Throughout his career as a wrestler, Finn Balor has been romantically linked to just two women. The first was Cathy Kelley who works as a ring announcer in the WWE; she is a television host, journalist, and social media correspondent for NXT and WWE. It is not known exactly how long the two dated.

Veronica Rodriguez, a reporter for Fox Sports, is the other woman he is known to have dated. The two started to date in 2018 after his relationship with Kelley ended. Veronica and Finn revealed to the public that they are lovers while they were being interviewed after seeing a football game in Spain. By August of 2019, the two got married.
