Little Mix is a British girl group that was formed during the eighth season of UK’s The X-Factor. The group was formed in 2011 and succeeded in becoming the first group to win the competition. After they won the competition, they signed on to Syco Music, Simon Cowell’s record label and released a cover version of Cannonball by Damien Rice as their Winner’s Single.

Later, they released their first album, DNA, in 2012. The album reached top ten in several countries including the United States and the United Kingdom; making them the first female group since the Pussycat Dolls to reach the top five in the United States with their debut album. They also managed to break a record held by the Spice Girls by gaining the highest US debut by a British Female group.

Their second album, Salute, was released in 2013 and also made it to the top ten in several countries. The lead singles from the album – Salute and Move –  also reached the top ten charts in the United Kingdom.

In 2015, they released their third studio Album, Get Weird. Get Weird has been their most successful album so far. The lead single in the album, Black Magic, not only reached number one in the UK but it was also nominated for two awards at the 2016 Brit Awards.

Their next album was released in 2016 and it became their first number one album in the United Kingdom. It also became the longest reigning female group number one album since the Spice Girls’ debut album two decades earlier. The album featured the incredibly successful hit song – Shoutout To My Ex, as well as Touch and Power.

The song, Shout Out To My Ex, won Best British Single at the 2017 Brit Awards. It also won more awards at Glamour Awards, Teen Choice Awards and MTV Europe Music Awards.

In 2016, the group had eleven certified singles and four platinum-certified albums in the UK, solidifying their status as one the best selling girl bands of all time. They are also congratulated as one of the most successful female musicians in modern British pop culture. Besides all these, members of the group are also considered some of the most influential people in the United Kingdom.

Little Mix –  What Are Their Names And Who Are They Exactly?

Little Mix is made up of four beautiful and extraordinary women – Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson.

Perrie Edwards

Perrie was born Perrie Louise Edwards on the 10th of July, 1993 to Deborah Duffy and Alexander Edwards. She was raised in the Whiteleas neighborhood of South Shields. She has a younger half-sister from her father’s side – Caitlin Edwards, and an older brother, Jonnie. She also attended Radipole Primary School in Weymouth before relocating to South Shields. She also attended South Shields’ St. Peter and Paul RC Primary School before joining Mortimer Community College. At Mortimer Community College, she obtained excellent academic records. She later transferred to Newcastle College where she graduated with a BTEC in Performing Arts.

She sang Alanis Morrissette’s You Oughta Know for her first audition on The X-Factor.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock

On the 4th of October, 1991, Leigh-Anne Pinnock was born. Leigh-Anne, who is of Jamaican and Barbadian heritage, was raised in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Before joining Little Mix and achieving success, she was a waitress at Pizza Hut.

She sang Rihanna’s Only Girl (In The World) for her first audition on The X-Factor.

Jesy Nelson

Jesy was born Jessica Louise Nelson on the 14th of June, 1991. She was raised in east London by her parents, Janice White and John Nelson with two brothers – Jonathan and Joseph – and an older sister, Jade.

She attended Jo Richardson Community School for her secondary education. Later, she also attended Essex’s Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College where her love for music and drama was noticed. She also later attended Sylvia Young and Yvonne Rhodes Theatre Schools to further her education.

Since becoming a member of Little Mix, she has had to deal with Cyberbullying, which led to her struggling to cope while she was on The X Factor.

She sang Jazmine Sullivan’s Bust Your Windows for her first audition on The X-Factor.

Jade Thirlwall

On 26 December 1992, Jade Amelia Thirlwall was born and was raised in South Shields’ Laygate Neighbourhood. She has a mix of Egyptian and Yemeni heritage and auditioned for The X Factor in 2008 but got eliminated before returning in 2010. She also attended South Tyneside College, a performing arts college.

Little Mix Relationships and Boyfriends

Jade Thirlwall has only been in two relationships of note – including Sam Craske who is a British dancer she dated from 2012 till 2014. In 2016, she began a relationship with Jed Elliot,  English Bassist, and a member of the English rock band, The Struts.

From 2012 till 2014, Jesy Nelson dated English dancer, Jordan Banjo. However, during a break, in 2013, she began a relationship with the singer, George Shelley. From 2015 till 2016, she was involved with the actor, Jake Roche; the two later got engaged but the relationship did not work out. For a short while in 2017, she dated Chris Clark, a British reality television personality. Later in 2017, she began dating Harry James Byart, a British rapper.

Of all Perrie Edwards’ relationships, perhaps her relationship with (formerly of One Direction) is the most noted one. The two were together from 2011 till 2015 and were engaged for two years before their break up. After their break up, she began a relationship with the Skins actor, Luke Pasqualino. After that short-lived relationship, she began dating famed footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock was in a relationship with a British singer, Jamar Harding, in 2012. After the end of that relationship, she fell in love with Jordan Kiffin whom she dated for four years, from 2012 till 2016. In December 2016, after the end of her relationship with Jordan Kiffin, she began dating footballer, Andre Gray.

Currently, Perrie, Leigh-Anne, Jesy, and Jade are worth a whopping £12 million (£3 million each).
