After graduating from high school, he enrolled at DePaul University where he studied political science. Wentz was very close to completing his degree when he chose to drop out and focus on his music career with the Fall Out Boy. However, before deciding to go with music, he had contemplated becoming a professional soccer player since he was very good at it, but according to him, the sport did not provide a good enough challenge, he, therefore, went with music.

Before forming the Fall Out Boy rock band, Pete Wentz was well known in the Chicago hardcore punk music scene. He was a member of bands like First Born, Birthright, Racetraitor, Extinction, Arma Angelus, and Yellow Road Priest. By 2001, after having gotten frustrated with the type of music that was being made by the groups he was a member of, he and Joe Trohman, the bassists for Arma Angelus, decided to form Fall Out Boy. The group went on to enjoy massive success before opting to take an indefinite break in 2009. During the break, Wentz joined forces with singer to form the band Black Cards. Black Cards released a single and planned to release a mixtape before Rexha opted to leave the group to explore other opportunities. Wentz carried on with the group, releasing two mixtapes before reuniting with Fall Out Boy to release three more albums.

Aside from his endeavors in music, Pete Wentz has ventured into numerous other things. He has guest appeared in a number of television shows and also owns a film production company called Bartskull Films. Wentz further owns the record label, DCD2 Records, which has bands like Panic! at the Disco and Gym Class Heroes on its roster. He is also a co-owner of the clothing company Clandestine Industries, the nightclub Angels & Kings, and the professional soccer team, the Phoenix Rising FC.

Joe Trohman

Joe Trohman’s journey to becoming a musician began in his teenage years when he taught himself how to play the guitar at the age of 15. He was born on the 1st of September, 1984, in the city of Hollywood, in Broward County, Florida, but was however raised in South Russell, Ohio. His family later moved to the Chicago area where he was able to forge a musical career for himself, co-founding Fall Out Boy.

Trohman, who serves as Fall Out Boy’s back-up vocalist and lead guitarist, co-founded the band in 2001 after having served as the bassist for the metalcore band, Arma Angelus, the group which Fall Out Boy’s other co-founder, Pete Wentz, served as the lead singer of. Trohman and Wentz had known each other from a young age as they attended the same high school – New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. The pair decided to create the group after sharing their thoughts as Trohman was said to have been in search of a group that could make more melodic music while Wentz was also looking to create a new group that would serve as an “escapist” project.

Fall Out Boy went on to enjoy huge success in the following decade, toping the U.S Billboard Charts and selling millions of records. In 2009, after the band decided to take an indefinite break, Trohman along with his other bandmate, Andy Hurley, decided to join forces with a few other artists from groups like Anthrax, Volbeat, and Every Time I Die, to form a heavy metal supergroup called The Damned Things. Patrick Stump

Patrick Stump serves as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and primary composer of Fall Out Boy. He joined the band in 2001 while serving as the drummer for grindcore band Xgrinding processX. Fall Out Boy co-founders Pete Wentz and Joe Trohman were at the time searching for a drummer to join the group, which Stump was able to audition for. Along the way, however, Trohman took notice of Stump’s acoustic guitar playing and singing ability, which he was able to impress the duo with to become a member in that capacity. He and Trohman have since switched between lead and rhythm guitar playing roles in recording sessions and at live shows.

Stump, who was born Patrick Martin Stumph, the youngest of three children to Patricia (nee Vaughn) and David Stumph, on the 27th of April, 1984, in Evanston, Illinois, was inspired to pursue a musical career by his father who was himself a folk singer. In 2003, following a lot of mispronunciations to his name, Stump opted to drop the letter “h” from his name to make it easier for to be referred to. He played a pivotal role in the success of Fall Out Boy in the 2000s before deciding to work on a solo project in 2010 as the entire band decided to take an indefinite break.

He went ahead to write, produce, and perform all the songs in his debut album Soul Punk which was released in October 2011. Stump has since then worked with numerous other artists, mostly as a producer, and also has a film acting career, appearing in episodes of shows like “House,” “Law & Order,” and “90210.” In 2012, he married his longtime girlfriend, Elisa Yao, who he shares a home with in Chicago along with their son, Declan.

Andy Hurley

Andy Hurley is the fourth member of the Fall Out Boy rock band who serves as its drummer. He joined the group as a full-time member in 2013 having previously worked with the band on a part-time basis. Hurley has been friends with Fall Out Boy’s founding member, Wentz, ever since he was 16 years of age. Before joining forces in Fall Out Boy, the two had been in three other bands together, with Hurley himself having been a part of more than half a dozen groups.

Hurley was born Andrew John Hurley on the 31st of May, 1980, in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Following the death of his father when he was 5, he was raised solely by his mother who worked as a nurse. He fell in love with music in his middle school days while playing the saxophone. While attending Menomonee Falls High School, he switched to learn how to play drums and became very good at it. As a student at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, who had a double-major in anthropology and history, Hurley was well sought after for his drum playing skills, which made him become a member of three bands at the time.
