Aaron Carter is an American-born hip-hop artist. At the age of 10, he released his eponymous debut album and went on to become a sensation among teens and pre-teens in the late 1990s. Between 1997 and 2002, he released 4 studio albums with millions of copies sold worldwide. After an over a decade hiatus, Carter returned to making music with the release of his fifth studio album LØVË in February 2018.

Who Is Aaron Carter?

Aaron Charles Carter was born on December 7, 1987, in Tampa, Florida to Jane Elizabeth (née Spaulding) and Robert Gene Carter. An early bloomer, he began performing at age 7 with a local band ‘Dead End’ which he formed with his mates from a rock school. However, he exited the band after 2 years owing to differences in their choice of music genres; he preferred pop while the others members were interested in alternative rock.

Carter had his debut solo performance as the opening act of a Backstreet Boys concert held in Berlin in March 1997. Shortly afterward, he snagged up a record deal followed by the release of his debut single. His self-titled debut album Aaron Carter was released in December 1997 which went on to attain gold certification in the US and several European countries. Nearly 3 years later (in September 2000), his sophomore album Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) was released. The album proved more successful than the first as it received massive airplay on Disney and Nickelodeon and ultimately attained triple platinum certification in the US. Consequently, his popularity soared as he got to perform with some of the biggest stars at the time and also guest-starred on several shows on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.

Carter’s third album Oh Aaron was released in August 2001, with the singer’s action figure to go with it. In relatively quick succession, his fourth album Another Earthquake! was released in September 2002 though it was not as successful as the preceding ones. The album turned out to be his last new release in a very long while. During his long hiatus, Carter continued to perform and also recorded a few singles even though he did not release any new album. He embarked on a 2005 Remix Tour and also featured in films like Supercross (2005) and Popstar (2005). In 2009, he featured in the 9th season of Dancing with the Stars, eventually finishing in fifth place.

Aaron Carter eventually resumed touring in February 2013. This was followed by the release of an EP The Music Never Stopped, his first body of music in over a decade. He released several more singles and another EP in the years that followed and eventually, he released his fifth studio album LØVË in February 2018.

What Is His Net Worth

Thanks to his music career, Aaron Carter became a millionaire even before he became a teenager. Millions of copies of his albums were sold worldwide between the late 90s and the early 2000s. However, all that wealth filtered away with time as he fell neck-deep into debt and eventually filed for bankruptcy in November 2013. The music star has since revived his career and has continued to put out new music. His net worth is currently estimated to be $2 million.

His Family

Aaron Carter grew up alongside 4 siblings, his twin sister Angel, other sisters Bobbie Jean and Leslie and an older brother named Nick. His brother Nick Carter is a member of the world-famous boy band Backstreet Boys. His sister Leslie Carter also had a fairly successful career as a pop singer. Aaron and his siblings featured on a shortlived E! reality TV show House of Carters back in 2006. Sadly, his sister Leslie passed on in January 2012 at the age of 25.

Is He Gay or Bisexual?

In recent years, there have been several misconceptions regarding Aaron Carter’s true sexuality though the singer has made several comments in this regard. Apparently, Carter came out as bisexual in August 2017 via a social media post. The singer also reiterated this in December 2017 during an LGBTQ&A podcast. However, despite being attracted to both sexes, Carter maintains that he would ultimately settle with a woman and start a family someday.
