The 3rd day of February 1993 was the auspicious day Brandon Micheal Hall was born to his parents in Anderson, South Carolina. He was raised by his single mother, Betty Hall alongside his older sister, Octavia.

Hall schooled at Pendleton High School where his interest in acting was aroused prior to transferring to Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities, Greenville, South Carolina, to complete his secondary education. At Pendleton, he starred in his first play, a high school production of The Lion King. To further hone his acting skills, he attended New York’s prestigious performing arts institution, Juilliard School where he studied drama, graduating in 2015. He also trained at the British American Drama Academy.

Following his education and training, Brandon Micheal Hall quickly established himself as a sought-after actor. He kicked off his career with the 2015 TV film LFE in the role of Kevin. He followed it up with minor roles in three TV series in 2016: Unforgettable, Broad City, and The Characters and also appeared in the short film, The Times as Daniel the same year. Brandon was raised in real life by a preacher, his mother. She was a minister at the Kingdom Global Ministry in Anderson, South Calorina. Hall describes his mom as very loving and supportive.

When he was cast in the atheist role, he said in an interview that his mom thought it is alright to take it up even though they later discussed it. Moreover, being a show focusing on religion, Brandon Micheal Hall added that he was hesitant to take the role at first. However, after it aired and even got a second season, he admitted that things changed personally for him and not just with his mother.

He mentioned changes like being able to have those discussions with his family which otherwise they could not talk about. Also, he credits his role in the series for opening that door which allows them to question what they normally wouldn’t.
