Chadwick Aaron Boseman is a screenwriter and actor best known for his role in the MCU’s superhero film Black Panther. He had always known that he was destined to be in the entertainment industry but being an actor was the last thing on his mind. Originally set out to become a writer and director, he only studied acting so he could relate better to actors.

Boseman was born the second of three boys in Anderson, South Carolina. While sources differ on his birth year – 1976 or 1977, the day and month are unanimously agreed to be November 29. That said, the actor is gradually nearing middle age. He was raised in “The Upstate” area of the town alongside his brothers, Derrick, and Kevin by their parents; Carolyn and Leroy Boseman. Leroy, his father, was a businessman while his mother, Carolyn worked as a nurse.

He attended T. L. Hanna High School in his hometown. It was there that his passion for acting and directing was realized as he wrote his first play, Crossroads at the age of 16 or 17 while in his junior year. He graduated from high school in 1995 before choosing to head out to Washington D.C. to attend Howard University, a historically black higher institution of learning. Chadwick Boseman graduated in the year 2000 with a bachelor of fine arts in directing after which he proceeded to the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England, for a mid-summer program and then to New York City’s Digital Film Academy.

Later on in the year, Boseman starred on another high-profile project, Get On Up, which made $30.6 million in the box office. The movie portrayed the personal struggles and successes of music legend James Brown. Before that, he appeared opposite Kevin Costner in Draft Day where he played an NFL draft prospect.

Chadwick Boseman’s next role came in 2016 in the movie Gods of Egypt, in which he played the god of wisdom, Thoth. That same year, Boseman joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in the blockbuster Captain America: Civil War as T’Challa, king of Wakanda, who is also the Black Panther.
