She spent her childhood days in a neighborhood in southeast Memphis called Orange Mound before her family relocated to Nutbush, a neighborhood situated in North Memphis. The singer attended a Memphis-based charter school called Soulsville Charter School and has been making the school proud through her voice and presence in the music industry.
Evvie McKinney began singing in the choir as a child, so she was no stranger to music by the show she went for her first audition. Before she successfully made it to the 5th episode of The Four, she auditioned severally for American Idol, The Voice, and The X Factor.
