Griffin Mcelroy’s Bio, Age

Mcelroy came into the world on April 17, 1987. His flair for journalism and podcasting started in his young days, thanks to his father’s occupation. Griffin was born to Clint and Leslie Mcelroy. His father, during his active days, was the co-host of a morning radio show on the local radio station WTCR-FM serving the Huntington, West Virginia area.

Nothing much or verifiable is known about his education before college. However, the podcaster attended Marshall University.

After graduation from the University, Griffin started his career in journalism. In 2007, he got a job as a weekend editor for the video gaming blog Joystiq. The following year, the journalist was brought on by MTV to cover his home state of West Virginia during the presidential election.

Griffin Mcelroy decided to start his own video game journalism venture and in order to do that, he left the employ of Joystiq in 2012. He then teamed up with Christopher Grant and his brother Justin Mcelroy to launch Polygon in the same year. His obligations to the venture eventually saw him become Polygon’s senior video producer.

To build a truly unique platform, the Griffin and his two co-founders enlisted the help of experienced heads including the chief editors at Joystiq, Kotaku, and The Escapist. To differentiate themselves from other platforms within the gaming industry, Griffin and his pack focused on penning long-form feature content, and video content. They also chose to focus on writing about the stories of people behind the popular video games rather than the games themselves.

Griffin is credited for producing some of Polygon’s most successful video content including the popular Monster Factory and Let’s Play series.

In April 2010, Griffin and his brothers launched and distributed their weekly comedy advice podcast My Brother, My Brother, and Me. In January 2011, the partnered with Maximum Fun Network to distribute the podcast. The show has received largely positive reviews since its inception. It was consistently among the top 10 iTunes comedy podcasts in 2010 and received good reviews from critics such as David Anthony and Colin Griffith.

In 2016, a deal was signed with NBC’s video streaming platform Seeso to produce a television series adaptation of the podcast. The first season of the series premiered on February 2017. In June of the same year, the series was sold to Otter Media for distribution on VRV, their video streaming platform.

The Adventure Zone was originally an episode on the My Brother, My Brother, and Me podcast but was eventually made into its own podcast in 2014. The podcast is co-hosted by Griffin, his brothers, and their father, Clint Mcelroy. It is a biweekly podcast that shows the family role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons and other popular games.

The veteran podcaster has also shown his voice-acting ability by working on some a few animated television shows, including Clarence, Camp Camp, and Big City Greens. In 2018, Griffin along with his brother Justin, left Polygon, the company they had co-founded so that they could give more time to their podcast ventures and their family.
