Jeremy Jordan as he is popularly known is an actor, singer and dancer born on November 20, 1984 and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas by his mum, Debbie, following the divorce of his parents in the early stages of Jeremy’s childhood. He was raised along with his two siblings, Joey his brother and Jessica his sister. His father is of multilineage: English, Scottish, Welsh and German descent. His mum is of no different either, her parent’s family were Jewish immigrants from Poland, Latvia, Russia, and Lithuania, which makes it hard to pinpoint a particular descent of which Jeremy belongs.

Jeremy started singing as a teenager, he attended Mary Carroll high school where he was a member of the high school choir. He also started acting in high school. He graduated from high school and enrolled at Ithaca College in New York where he chose to study Fine Art. In 2007, he graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art in musical theatre.

After college Jeremy continued to pursue his longtime dream of being a professional actor. In 2008, he was cast in a theatre play at Hartford theatre works where he featured in the Little Dog Laughed as Alex. His appearance in the play earned him a nomination in Connecticut critics circle. In the same year, he also played the character of Tom Sawyer in Big River.

In 2010, his fame rose when he starred as Clyde in the musical Bonnie and Clyde.  The show made Broadway debut on December 1, 2011, and after 36 performances, the show was shut down on December 30, 2011. Another play that gave rise to Jeremy Jordan was Newsies, where he played the role of Jack in its stage version at the paper mill playhouse in New Jersey back in September and October 2011.

In 2012, Jeremy returned to play the lead role as Jack Kelly in Disney’s Newies on Broadway. His cast as Jack in Newsies earned him a nomination in Tony Award for best performance by a leading actor in a musical and also a Grammy Award nomination in 2013 for best musical theatre album as a principal soloist on the Newsies original cast album.

In the course of his career so far, he has featured in four films. In 2007, he starred as Joel on a short film titled Common Change. He starred in Joyful Noise as Randy Garrity alongside , Keke Palmer and in 2012. He played the character Jamie Wellerstein in The Last 5 Years and as Jack Kelly in the live on-stage film Disney’s Newsies the Broadway musical in 2017.

He has been featured in eight TV series, some in single episodes, some in multi-episodes and others in multi-seasons. He played the role of Doug Walshen in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, as Levi Murney in Submissions Only, In Smash as Jimmy Collins, in Elementary as Joey Castoro, again in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit but as a different character as Skye Adderson, in Tangled: The Series as Varian, in The Flash as General Winslow Schott Jr. and is currently making appearances in Supergirl as Winslow WinnSchott Jr.

  

Amongst his appearances on TV series and films, he also has made appearances in six stage plays, Rock of ages, West Side Story, Heathers: the musical, Bonnie and Clyde, Newsies and Finding Neverland. Where he cast as Swing, Tony, Jason Dean, Clyde Barrow, Jack Kelly and J.M Barrie respectively.

Jeremy Jordan has earned himself a couple of award nomination for his work, and also won the award for outstanding debut in Bonnie and Clyde in Theatre World Awards.

However, in June 2016, he took to his Facebook page and Twitter to inform the public about his cousin named Sarah who was sent to a remote Christian Boarding Facility in Texas to “pray away her being gay” for one year. Jeremy saw this as being inappropriate for the then 18-year-old woman and had to set up a GoFundMe page to create awareness and raise funds for freeing her from the remote gay correctional facility. He opined with findings from the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics that such treatments are psychologically damaging to patients. Furthermore, he made it known to the concerned public that the success of freeing his cousin Sara would open the door for many other teens to embrace their sexuality the way they are in a world full of love and acceptance for them. His outcry got responses from other gay celebrities and gay rights advocate members of the public and after 5 days of making the Facebook post, his cousin came home from the facility.

The couple committed to holy matrimony on September 8, 2012, in a private wedding ceremony that allowed only the attendance of close family members and friends.

Ashley Spencer made her television debut on NBC’s Grease: You’re The Only One That I Want and also made her Broadway debut in Hairspray as Amber Von Tussle in July 2007.
