Katie Hopkins is an English writer, broadcaster, conspiracy theorist, former reality TV contestant, and the most hated woman in Britain for her regular spiels of awfulness. She is popularly known for her right-wing views expressed in newspapers, on TV, and social media.

Hopkins has made spiteful comments targeted at pretty much every minority group from migrants to Muslims, the elderly, people with dementia, the poor, mentally ill, obese and many other groups and individuals. Some of her views have caused her and her employers thousands of dollars in legal fees and settlements.

Who Is Katie Hopkins?

Hopkins was born on February 13, 1975, in Barnstaple to middle-class parents. She began attending a private convent school at the very tender age of three and remained there till she was 16. She took to sports and learned how to play the violin and piano but her childhood ambition was to become a colonel in the military. Katie went on to Exeter University and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst where she completed her military training. However, she was precluded from joining the army due to epilepsy.

Not to be deterred, Hopkins became a business consultant and moved to New York for a while, returning in 2005. A year later, she secured a marketing job as a global brand consultant for the Met Office,

Soon after beginning her new job, Hopkins took an unpaid leave as part of her probationary period to participate in the third season of the reality TV show The Apprentice, hosted by Alan Sugar, a successful entrepreneur who made his money in electronics. She was to compete with other contestants for a £100,000 a year job working for the businessman. Hopkins withdrew from the show despite being offered a place on the final episode, citing problems involving childcare arrangements for her kids.

During her stay on The Apprentice, Hopkins did not stop making inflammatory statements on camera. Her vitriol was aimed at fellow contestants, overweight people, maternity leave, and people who watched shopping channels on television.

After leaving the show, Hopkins was fired from her job at the Met Office for not meeting the requirements of her probationary period. Riding on the wave of popularity aroused by her highly controversial comments, she began appearing on several other TV shows, including 8 Out of 10 Cats, The Friday Night Project, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Question Time, Celebrity Big Brother, and worst of all, on This Morning, where she famously stated that she would never allow her children to interact with other children named after geographical locations, even though, in marvelously unscripted irony, her own daughter was named India.

In 2017, she started her own chat show, If Katie Hopkins Ruled the World, which was discontinued after the first season due to very low ratings. She worked in the broadcasting industry as a talk show presenter for LBC, a radio station based in London, until she was dismissed following some comments she made on twitter about the Manchester Arena bombing.

Hopkins has also worked as a writer for several newspapers and magazines such as Express & Echo, The Sun, and the Daily Mail website where she was fired from in November 2017. Hopkins believes she is the new Jesus for far-right, right-wing supporters and commentators everywhere, ready to voice what others are unwilling to say.
