6 Quick Facts About Jimmy Kimmel’s Daughter

1. Family

As earlier mentioned, Katie is the offshoot of the famed television personality Jimmy Kimmel. Nevertheless, her father is not the only celebrity in the family. The family seems to be one hell of a famous lot. Her mother, Gina although popular as the ex-spouse of Jimmy is more than just a celebrity wife; she is a fashion designer and has a number of acting gigs to her credit. Kevin is an actor and filmmaker as well as works on his father’s talk show as a production assistant.

Following her parents’ divorce, her father dated comedian for many years before getting married to his second wife, Molly McNearney in 2013. Molly is a co-head writer on his show and the duo is parents to two children; a daughter named Jane (b. 2014) and a son named Billy (born 2017).

Furthermore, Katie is the second cousin of comedian Sal Iacono and actress Ivy Iacono.
She is also the grandniece of Frank Potenza known as Uncle Frank on the Jimmy Kimmel show where he served as a comic foil to Jimmy until his death in 2011. Her aunt Jill Kimmel is a stand-up comedian, actress and writer while her uncle Jonathan Kimmel who is married to Carly Kimmel, a writer/lecturer is a director, writer, producer, actor, composer for television and film.

2. She Is Not Alien to the Insecurities most artists face

Like most creative people, there comes a time in their career when it feels like they are not doing well even though they are well acclaimed for their works. For Katie Kimmel, it is no different. She sometimes thinks not of herself as an artist but was also quick to note that those feelings are part of what makes her the artist she is. As she puts it, she becomes an artist when she started feeling that way.

3. Katie Kimmel is equally an art collector

For one to excel in one’s chosen career, that one has to have an external force if not an inside push or inspiration that propels one forward. Katie, above all things, is inspired by her trinket collection which she asserts is enough to get her institutionalized. She loves tchotchkes and mean-looking porcelain dolls and perhaps she needs more inspirations, she visits a most unusual place like an antique mall or a good estate sale.

4. Her Father is Proud of Her Creations and Would Go any Length to Protect Her Rights

Sometime in 2017, Jimmy was embroiled in a controversy after he called out a clothing brand known as Reformation for stealing design ideas from his daughter. However, the said brand refuted his claims stating that they have deep respect for artistic integrity and as such, would never replicate or appropriated the work of any artist without due permission. Case closed!

5. Ceramic is Her Best Media For Production

Although she loved sculpture, that couldn’t satisfy her as much as ceramics do. As a child, she took ceramics classes and fell in love with the media but when a friend reintroduced her to the art in her second year of college, it became her mainstay ever since.

With the tactile material, she feels more accomplished and connected with a finished ceramic sculpture than she does with any other medium. Besides working with ceramics, she enjoys coddling her neurotic dog and surfing the web.

6. Her Creativity and Originality is Top Notch

Being well aware that creativity is a grind, Katie strives to keep her works original even if it means eating different things for lunch daily to get ideas about her food art. She is so fond of food with faces, cute and adorable dogs (inspires her dog vases) and dealing with adulting through oh-so-relatable doodles. Her ceramic sculptures include food, fruits and kitchen objects with simplistic, funny, yet too-happy and concerned faces. The artist also represents a true sense of creativity and as such, whatever she ends up making is always full of personality and wit.

As an illustrator, painter, and sculptor, her works also celebrate both materialism and habits of consumerism. Moreover, her sense of humor is not restricted to food items but runs wild on everything she touches, from vivid illustrations to quotable clothing designs and quirky cute ceramics.
