Kyle Griffin is an American journalist and television producer, born to Janice L. Griffin and Harry P. Griffin, on the 10th of July 1986, in New York, United States. His parents are both New Yorkers, his mother Janice Griffin is from Rensselaer, New York, while his father Harry Griffin is from Castleton-on-Hudson, New York. The media personality was raised in New York and he also schooled there. Kyle is a graduate of College of St. Rose in Albany, New York, where he took communication and English as a major. He also has a master’s degree in strategic public relations from George Washington University.

Kyle’s father is a retired media marketing consultant at Time Union, a daily newspaper in Albany. His mother, on the other hand, is a preschool teacher at the Small World Nursery School in Troy.

Kyle’s Career

Griffin started out as an assistant producer in WNYT, where he worked between 2006 and 2008, in New York. He then worked at MSNBC for 7 months in 2008 while still in College. He worked as an associate producer for 14 months at NBC News. Kyle did research, wrote and copyedited for NBC News.

Between 2009 to 2012, Kyle Griffin worked as a producer in MSNBC, where he produced daily monologues for Reverend and also managing its Video content. He later moved to Australia in 2012 and began working for Yahoo!. His time with the web services provider was short and he worked as an associate producer.

Griffin went on to work as a freelancer for Seven Network, in Sydney, Australia. The television network is one of five main free-to-air networks in Australia. He started working for the Sydney based television network in 2012 and stayed with the network company for over two years. Kyle worked as a producer and was soon promoted to the position of a senior producer. He produced news story for the segment, Today Tonight. Griffin managed a team of producers, as well as generating news segments and was also in charge of assigning editorial contents during his time at Sevens Network. After three years of working in Australia, he stopped working for Seven Network in July 2015. He then returned to the United States in the summer of 2015.

On his return to the U.S. and New York precisely, the seasoned media personality made a return to MSNBC and took up the position of a producer in one of MSNBC’s segments, The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell. MSNBC is an American pay television network which came to be as a result of the merger between Microsoft and NBC. Its headquarter is at 30, Rockefeller Plaza, New York City, New York. It has a host of sister channels like E!, Euro News, Sky News, NBC and many more.

It is no news that Kyle Griffin is gay and he is married to an Australian Joel Meares. Kyle does not feel any guilt about his choice of sexuality and he has the support of his family and friends. Sometime this year, he tweeted about how proud he is being gay, his tweet read, “Happy Pride Month. I’m super gay”. He and his gay partner, Joel Meares have been married since 2015. They got married in a restaurant called Lucas Confectionery in Troy, New York.

Kyle and his spouse met for the first time in 2009, through a mutual friend. Their first meeting place was in an Upper West Side bar where Griffin tried to explain the rules of baseball to Meares.

His husband, Joel Steven Meares is an online content writer, editor, and author, born in 1985, in Townsville, Australia to StarlenaL. Meares and Danny S. Meares. His parents are both from Townsville, Australia. Joel is a graduate of the University of Sydney, Australia. He has a master’s degree in journalism, which he obtained from Columbus University. He used to work as the national online content editor at Time Out North America until he got promoted to Global Editor in Chief of Time Out.

Joel is also a book writer and he is the author of We’re All Going To Die (Especially Me). He released the book in 2015.
