Who Is Layla Alizada?

Originally from Afghanistan, Layla Alizada was born on the 10th of August 1977 in Kabul. Shortly after her birth, her family emigrated to Montreal, Canada, which became the place she made her childhood memories. She stayed in Montreal for years before relocating to the city of Vancouver.

Alizada was 13 and in high school when she was scouted by a talent agent. She, however, started acting professionally in 1995, making her debut in an episode of Strange Luck, titled Hat Trick.

Her debut introduced her to varying audiences, including the American entertainment industry which offered her roles in television as aforementioned. Her part in Days of Our Lives as Kelly and her role as Regina in Jane the Virgin are just to mention a few.

Layla Alizada also portrayed the role of Meena, a character which channeled her Afghan roots in the television movie, Chasing Freedom in 2004. Her character in the movie is an Afghan refugee who, in her bid to escape the Taliban, destroys her identification and tries to get political asylum in the United States. The actress is currently starring in Shut Eye, giving life to the recurring character Simza.

On stage, The Afghan-born actress has productions of King Lear, Lady Windermere’s Fan, Obsession and Merlin under her belt. She also featured in Day One, the short film that made the Academy Award nomination list. Her contributions to entertainment have not gone without a reward. For her stellar portrayal of Meena in Chasing Freedom, Layla Alizada has a Gemini Award nomination and a win at the Gracie Awards to her credit.

 

Is Layla Alizada Married, Who Is Her Husband?

Layla Alizada is indeed a married woman. She started dating the Canadian actor in 2005 after their meeting on the set of Canadian television drama series, Godiva’s. They dated for a long time before they got engaged in 2014 and in 2017, precisely on July 15, they exchanged marital vows.

Fisher, who is a few years younger than Layla Alizada, was born on March 13, 1984, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Just like his wife, he started acting as a teenager and also took different classes including piano which he fell in love with. His first professional role was in the television movie The Sheldon Kennedy Story, at the age of 14. Fisher has also broken into the American entertainment industry, picking up roles in top Hollywood shows and films. He is best known for his appearance on the Showtime series Shameless, where he played Mickey Milkovich and for his performance on The Riches – he starred as Cael Malloy on the FX series. Some of his film roles can be seen in Hatfields & McCoys as Ellison “Cotton Top” Mounts, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 as Vladimir, Final Destination as Brian Gibbons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows as Michelangelo. He also made several appearances in top TV shows such as Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Bones, Lie to Me, and many others.

In 2018, Noel Fisher was cast in Fonzo, the Al Capone biopic where he will play Junior, the American gangster’s son. Some of his other projects include the CBS series The Red Line, as well as a recurring role in the Hulu series Castle Rock.
