Mike Cernovich was born on November 17, 1977, in Illinois, USA. His mother, Diana Lynn suffered from mental illness and Mike’s birth name was the same as his father’s – Michael John Cernovich. Mike was brought up in the farming town of Kewanee, Illinois and in a devout Christian home. Cernovich attended the University of Illinois and when that was done, he joined the Pepperdine University School of Law.

His career began when in 2004, Cernovich started a legal weblog titled Crime & Federalism. In his early work, he focused on men’s empowerment, anti-feminism and some guide on how to meet women. Throughout the years, Cernovich has found a way to constantly air his rather seemingly ‘unhinged’ views. In 2014, Gamergate was promoted by Cernovich with tweets such as “Who cares about breast cancer and rape? Not me.”

Gamergate was never far from controversy. Several women in the video game industry were harassed by internet trolls. Cernovich wrote his self-published help book, Gorilla Mindset in 2015. In it, he shared his views on how women should submit to “dominant alpha males.”

He became really influential when he became a part of the manosphere movement. He took his theories to the national level, falsely claiming during the United States presidential election of 2016, that Hilary Clinton was actually quite ill. He claimed she had a ‘seizure disorder’ and Parkinson’s disease. Thanks to the magic of the internet, by September of that year, the hashtag #HilarysHealth had become a trending topic on Twitter with 240,000 page views and his views were seen over 100 million times.

When the false conspiracy theory, Pizzagate came along saying that child sex rings were rampant in Washington, D.C, Cernovich helped to popularize the theory. Once Cernovich perceives one to be his opponent, he is quick to brand such a person or group as being pedophiles. But let’s not forget, Cernovich has written of his own questionable sexual exploits. Mike met his second wife, Shauna shortly after his divorce from his first wife. Shauna Cernovich was born Shauna Ghofranian and hails from a Persian Muslim family that migrated from Iran to the US. She earned her Bachelors degree in 2009 after studying at UC Irvine. Her working history lists a host of companies like BCBG Max Azria, CraveOnline Media LLC & Nordstrom. The couple live together in Southern California and have a child together, a daughter named Cyra Cernovich.
