Bio (Age) – Who is Mili Avital?
Mili Avital was born on the 30th of March 1972. She was raised in Tel Aviv and Ra’anana both located in Israel and attended the Thelma Yellin High School of Arts in Givatayim, Israel. Her interest in acting began at childhood. As a six-year-old girl, she would turn stories into plays, taking the roles of the actress, set designer and director all by herself. She also assigned roles to her girlfriends in her plays which they often performed for the children in the local kindergarten school.
Mili Avital began her career as a 17-year-old senior high school student when she was chosen to play a role in Christopher Hampton’s play, Dangerous Liaisons at the Cameri Theater of Tel Aviv. Afterward, she took up roles in the television film Yael’s Friends’. In 1992, she received an Israeli Academy Award for the “Best Supporting Actress’’ for the movie Me’everLayam (Over the Ocean). The following year, Mili came to New York to attend the Circle in the Square Theater School where she also lived with a distant maternal aunt for three months until she found an apartment. While working as a waitress, she was discovered by an agent who introduced her to Ronald Emmerich, the director of the 1994 science fiction film Stargate.
With luck on her side, Mili became the female lead cast in the film which earned her a 1995 Sci-Fi Universe Reader’s Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress. Since then, she has made several appearances in films including; Dead Man (1995), Invasion of Privacy (1997), Kissing a Fool (1998), Polish Wedding (1998), Animals with the Tollkeeper (1998), The Young Girl and the Monsoon (1999), Bad Seed (2000), The Human Stain (2003), AhavaColombianit Columbian Love (2004). She also directed “I Think Myself I Am All The Time Younger’’ a short documentary which was premiered at the 2004 Tribeca Film Festival. In addition to all these she starred in the 2005 movie, When Do We Eat?, as well as the 2007 movie, Noodle.
Mili Avital has also appeared in a good number of Television works including NBC’s legal drama series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Arabian Nights, USA Network’s After the Storm, Uprising, ShabatotVeHagim,” Damages, Prisoners of War, ABC’s series 666 Park Avenue, Landing on Their Feet, and King Lear.’
Her Husband, Children, and Parents
After ending a three-year-long relationship with former partner David Schwimmer in November 2001, Avital dated and got married to Charles Randolph in July 2004. The couple currently resides in New York with their two children, Benjamin and Fanny.
Randolph, a multi-award winning screenwriter and producer is best known for writing screen works for films and television plays including The Life of David Gale (2003), The Interpreter (2005), Love & Other Drugs (2010) and The Big Short (2015).
In terms of her parents, Mili Avital was born into a Jewish family. Her father’s name is Noni Avital, a graphic designer while her mother’s name is Iko Avital also a graphics designer. In addition, Mili is not the only child of her parents as she has a younger brother named Yoni Avital.
