In his next Welterweight fight, he fought against former professional boxer Marcus Davis on August 28, 2010, and won in the final round and the bout earned Fight of the Night honors.

He won the fight via submission in the second round, making it his ninth submission victory in the UFC, tied for the second most all-time behind only Royce Gracie. A rematch with Conor McGregor was scheduled; sadly, he lost the rematch via majority decision.
