Mr. Rampage has also proved his worth as an actor, appearing on over a score of television productions and a handful of films. Facts To Know about Quinton Jackson

His Age and Early Life

It was on the 20th day of June 1978 and in Memphis, Tennessee that this fighter was born – he was named Quinton Ramone Jackson. As the story goes, Jackson had a rough childhood and was familiarized with the art of fighting as he was involved in several street fights; he even sold drugs. This is not surprising as his dad was a drug addict. The man abandoned his 10-years-old lad for reasons best known to him.

The Promotions and Organisations He’s Been With

To the best of our knowledge, Quinton Jackson’s affairs with combat sports started when he was at Raleigh-Egypt High School. He was a wrestler and his aggressive style made him a tough opponent. It wasn’t a surprise when he emerged a member of the All-State Team as a senior. Jackson toyed with the idea of becoming a professional wrestler when he’s done with high school but as fate would have it, he only was an amateur wrestler at California’s Lassen Community College in Susanville where he was rusticated for fighting a teammate.

Mixed martial arts soon grabbed his attention and he went on to satisfy this interest, fighting and establishing fine records with a handful of little promotions in America. He soon found himself with Japan’s Pride Fighting Championships where he among other feats, emerged a runner-up at the 2003 Pride Middleweight Grand Prix. Sometime in 2006, he joined the World Fighting Alliance which soon saw him tied to Zuffa, a subsidiary of the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC).

It was only a matter of time before he debuted at UFC 67. He soon won the UFC Light Heavyweight title and trashed who was the Pride Middleweight Champion to unify both titles. His spell with UFC continued until in September 2009 when he suddenly announced he’s fed up with fighting.

Why He Retired In September 2009

The only reason Rampage gave for his sudden retirement was that he’s been treated badly by the UFC. He announced the retirement via his blog in September 2009. Before the year ran out, precisely on 4th December, the fighter again announced that he is coming out of retirement. He did but struggled all through.

In June 2013, he moved to Bellator MMA where he found his steam again. The next year, he controversially moved back to UFC. A contractual dispute followed which saw him return to Bellator MMA in February 2016.

Meanwhile, between 2013 and 2014, Quinton Jackson had a professional wrestling career with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Quinton Jackson’s Love Life – Wife and Children

Jackson was once married to Yuki Jackson with whom he fathered a son (Elijah) and a daughter (Naname Nakia). Apart from his kids with Yuki, he had two sons (D’Angelo and Raja) from the affairs he had after marriage.

His union with Yuki started deteriorating in 2006 after it emerged that he was Raja’s father. They tried to work it out but eventually abandoned the marriage.

He’s Been Suicidal

Way back in 2014, the ferocious fighter made the police chase after him as he drove recklessly to evade arrest. He created a mess in the chase and attracted the wrath of the law with 3 years prison term hanging around his neck.

Fortunately, fate was friendly with him as the charges against him were dismissed after he served the community for 200 hours without going against the stipulated conditions.

Jackson would later comment on his wild and reckless driving, claiming he was rushing to reach a friend who would talk him out of taking his life.
