Another fighter from beyond the borders of the US, Sin Cara is actually more of a role than a person. Jorge Arias first made his WWE debut when he temporarily replaced Luis Urive who played the wrestler-character of Sin Cara before him. He would later perform under the moniker Hunico always wearing a bandana and fighting often as one-part of a tag team comprising himself and Camacho.

Since 2013, following the termination of Urive’s WWE contract, the Mexican-American wrestler has made the masked Sin Cara character his own. He is also the longest-serving performer to play that character. Like others before him, Jorge fought under different names and in other lower-tier promotions before his WWE career. He is a one-time winner of the NXT Tag Team Championship title along with Kalisto.

Who Is Sin Cara and How Old Is He?

Jorge Arias was born on September 5, 1977, in El Paso, Texas to Mexican immigrant parents. Jorge’s talent in the ring started showing when he was at Burges High School in Texas as evidenced by the many state championships he won. He went on to kick off his professional career under the name “Mistico” while dividing between his career and his parent’ funeral home.qq

When he started working for Mexico’s AAA wrestling promotion, he tweaked his appearance and changed his name to Incognito to avoid any legal overlaps with his former employer, Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Moving on from the AAA, he worked with a myriad of independent wrestling promotions in both Mexico and the US.

In 2006, he participated in TNA’s World X-Cup Tournament as part of Team Mexico. From September 2007, Jorge Arias spent some time with the Philadelphia based promotion, Chikara, where he won the Rey de Voladores (“King of the Fliers”) tournament in May 2008.

After joining the WWE’s developmental promotion Florida Championship Wrestling, he changed his name to Hunico but retained the outfit from his previous character. As one part of the two-man tag team, Los Aviadores tag team, Hunico won the Florida Tag Team Championship title in June 2010 by defeating The Uso Brothers. They lost the title 12 days later but won it back the following day before losing it for the final time on August 12, 2010.

Exactly a year later, Arias started to fill in for Luis Urive as Sin Cara during Luis’s 30-day suspension. Urive resumed his Sin Cara duties on September 16, 2011, and started a feud with Arias who was appearing as a Sin Cara impostor. They faced off with each other several times, eventually ending the feud in a fight where Luis was victorious and unmasked Arias.

Hunico also had a feud with Ted DiBiase and went on an unbeaten streak recording victories over Ezekiel Jackson, Justin Gabriel, Yoshi Tatsu and so on. Over the years, he also continued to reprise a tag team role with his friend Danny Marlow known as Camacho in the ring.

Arias re-debuted as Sin Cara on December 2, 2013, on Raw, defeating Alberto Del Rio in the process. The character experienced a resurgence with Jorge at the helm and enjoyed a winning streak throughout the month of December that was eventually killed by Del Rio.

In mid-2014, Arias who had permanently taken over the Sin Cara character was sent to NXT. Here, he formed a tag-team partnership with known as The Lucha Dragons. They went on to win the NXT Tag Team Championship, Arias’s first title with the WWE. They lost the title on January 28, 2015.

On March 30, 2015, The Lucha Dragons made their Raw debut in an 8-man tag team match. Sin Cara continued to face-off against other fighters with Kalisto and as a single fighter. He faced the likes of Zack Ryder, , The New Day, The Miz and so on.

After the dissolution of The Lucha Dragons, Sin Cara officially became a part of the Raw brand after he was drafted in the 2016 WWE Draft. Here, he had a feud with Braun Strowman before he was moved to SmackDown’s roster as a result of the 2017 WWE Superstar Shake-up. Here he battled many stars across events and recorded some wins including over the United States Champion . On April 8, 2018, he was part of the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Sin Cara also fought at the WWE Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27, 2018, but saw his elimination at the hands of .
