Sixteen Jones is a rather odd name you would say but one should expect anything from the band group known for their unconventional acts and music videos, Die Antwoord. They are known for their song, Enter the Ninja and for their seemingly weird musical and fashion style. Sixteen made her debut in the media on her parents’ music video of I Fink U Freeky at the age of seven.

In case you are wondering what role she played, she is that little girl with the snake around her neck and that provided fodder for the tabloids with many people discussing the parenting ability of Yolandi and Ninja.

Anyway, Sixteen Jones is no more that girl of seven. She has evolved into her own person and is also making waves like her folks in the music industry. She is a singer, songwriter as well as part of a band.

Sixteen Jones Biography (Age)

She was born on January 15, 2006, in South Africa. As earlier mentioned, she is the only daughter of Ninja (Watkin Tudor Jones) and Yolandi Visser of Die Antwoord. Her grandfather is Ben du Toit. She has an adopted brother, Tokkie Jones.

Going by her parents’ involvement in the music industry, she made an appearance in the music video of I Fink U Freeky when she was seven but is now making giant strides on her own therein. Sixteen made voice appearances in several of her parents’ tracks which presented as the next big thing to look out for.

Taking after her parents in so many aspects, like adopting some fashion streaks from her mother and making faces like her father, she is also a member of a band. The band is called “The Boy With the Rainbow Face” and the other member is the daughter of Flea (bassist of the American band, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Sunny. While Sunny is the frontwoman of the group, Sixteen Jones backs her up and also writes the band’s songs.

Her Parents: Die Antwoord (Yolandi Visser and Watkin Tudor Jones)

Die Antwoord which when translated means “The Answer” in Afrikaans is not the name of a person but rather of a rap-rave group. It was formed in Cape Town, South Africa in 2008 and is comprised of three characters, two vocalists and their producer. The frontwoman of the band is while the rapper Watkin Tudor Jones who is better known by his stage name Ninja and producer DJ Hi-Tek (Justin de Nobrega) complete the trio.

Their music is more out of the norm in the hip-hop genre. They incorporate elements of zef culture (a South African counterculture movement) in their musical and visual style. The culture appropriates out-of-date, discarded cultural elements and has been described as modern and trashy.

They may not be as many other hip-hop groups, but their unique style has helped to set them apart. The style is exemplified by their music videos and involves the alternating interplay between Yolandi’s high-pitched rhymes and Ninja’s swagger. Their characteristic accent also plays a huge part added to the fact that their lyrics are in Afrikaans, Xhosa, and English.

The band which can be considered successful has released two EPs, one mixtape, and five studio albums which include $O$ (2009), Ten$Ion (2012), Donker Mag (2014), Mount Ninji and da Nice Time Kid (2016), and The Book of Zef (2017).

Having talked about the South African hip-hop group, the two principal members have a relationship that goes beyond music. They became romantically involved and had their daughter, Sixteen.

Yolandi was born as Anri du Toit on December 1, 1984, in Port Alfred, a small town on the East coast of South Africa and Ninja was born on September 26, 1974. The duo met in Cape Town and was connected by their love for music. Besides music, Yolandi is also famous for her outrageous and provocative fashion choices.
