Mixed Martial Artist fighter Travis Browne made his professional debut in 2009 and has since remained a fighter. Who Exactly is Travis Browne?
Travis Kuualiialoha Browne was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 17, 1982. He spent most of his teenage life in San Diego Califonia where he attended high school at Dieguito Academy playing basketball. In the year 2000, he won the Coastal North League Player of the Year. He furthered his education at Palomar College where he continued playing basketball for two years before he dropped out.
In 2009, Browne started his professional MMA career with smaller establishments like King of the CageBellator Fighting Championships and the Gladiator Challenge where he quickly rose to the top with an amazing 9-0 undefeated winning streak.
He made his first appearance in March 2010 at the Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz Finale. In the first round at exactly 4:32 Travis Browne won the fight through a technical knock out (TKO). He went on to fight Cheick Kongo the Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran at UFC 120.
Travis won round one on the judge’s scorecards while Kongo won the second. The fight ended in a draw controversially in the third and final round due to a point deduction penalty on Kongo for continually holding and grabbing Browne’s shorts.
On May 28, 2011, Travis fought Stefan Struve at the UFC 130 where he won the fight in the first round through a superman punch knockout which in the process earned him a “Knockout of the Night” bonus. Browne and Rob Broughton battled at the UFC 135 with Browne winning by a unanimous decision on the 24 of September in 2011.
Travis’ performance earned him “Submission of the Night” honors on April 21, 2012, when he fought Chad Griggs a UFC fresher at the UFC 145 defeating Chad by submission in the first round due to an arm-triangle choke.
On August 4, 2012, at the UFC on FOX 4, Travis faced Ben Rothwell who however was forced to quit due to injury.
Travis fought Antonio Silva at the event of UFC ON FX 5, on the 5th of October 2012. Travis Brown encountered his first professional loss. Browne came into the fight showing off a variety of striking techniques aggressively which resulted in him throwing a flashy kick and straining his left hamstring.
Silva successfully capitalized on it systematically with a big hand from the back and punches from the top. Vice Media had a camera crew interview Browne before and after his encounter with Silver. Six months later, at The UltimateFighter 17 Final on April 13, 2013 Travis fought Gabriel Gonzaga winning him in the first round knocking him out with an elbow to a side of his head and multiple use of elbow on the back of Gonzaga’s head earning him honors for the night but later had a twist with Gonzaga appealing to the Athletic Commission in the state of Nevada though it was denied.
Travis went on to Fight Alistair Overeem at the UFC Fight Night 26 on 17 August 2013. Browne knocked Overeem out in the first round with a kick and some punches that attracted a bonus award of the third Knockout of the night. Josh Barnett was next with Travis winning in the first minute of the fight at the UFC 168 on 28 December 2013 earning him a third straight fight Knockout of the night bonus.
April 19, 2014, at the UFC on FOX 11 Travis Browne suffered yet another loss in a fight with Fabricio Werdum through a unanimous decision after outstriking Browne for nearly all five rounds of the fight. He said he suffered a dislocated foot at some point in the face-off with a broken hand and ribs. Although Travis gave Werdum and early knockdown, it wasn’t enough for him to secure a win.
Browne won in the first round with a technical knock out (TKO) against Brendan Schaub at the UFC 181 on the 6th of December in 2014. Travis fought Andrei Arlovski at the UFC 187 on the 23rd of May in 2015. He lost in the first round through a technical knockout (TKO).
Browne went on to face Matt Mitrione at the UFC Fight Night 81 on January 17, 2016, where he won the fight in the third round through a TKO. It was a controversial win for Travis as Mitrione suffered an injured eye due to multiple pokes to the eye from Travis throughout the fight.
Travis faced Cain Velasquez at the UFC 200 on the 9th of July, 2016 where he lost through a TKO towards the end of the first round.
On September 10, 2016, at the UFC 203, Travis lost yet again to Fabrico Werdum in a rematch through a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 30-27).
At the UFC Fight Night 105, Browne fought Derrick Lewis on the 19th of February, 2017 at the main event in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They were both awarded Fight of the Night for their performance with Travis hurting Derrick in the first round with body stricks but lost in the second round through a knockout.
Travis fought Olasky Oliynyk at the UFC 213 on the 18th of July 2017. He lost in the second round through submission. This wasn’t any good for his career so much that the president of UFC said that he thinks Travis should retire.

Travis Browne is currently married to , a former Women’s Bantamweight champion. Both of them have been in a relationship since 2015 and on 20th of August, 2017 Travis broke the news of their engagement. They went ahead to get married on the 28th of the same month (August) in 2017.
Travis is currently a father of two, Kaleo and Keawe, from a previous marriage with Jenna Renee Webb. They got married in January of 2015. In July of that same year, Renee posted multiple photos of herself showing body bruises she alleged was inflicted on her by Browne’s constant physical abuse of her.
As a result, the UFC suspended Travis from participating in its International Fight events as they launched a full investigation into the allegation. Browne was reinstated on the 28th of August, 2015 by the UFC as their investigation returned with an inconclusive evidence. On the 21st of February, 2016 Webb and Travis divorced officially.
