Yahtzee Croshaw, born Benjamin Richard Croshaw, is one of the most in-demand multi-talented personalities in the competitive gaming market right now. While he may be popularly known for his creative video games, what many people don’t know is that he is also a humorist, comedic writer, author, and video game journalist. Yahtzee earned international fame for the first time after he became an icon in the Adventure Game Studio (AGS) community for producing incredible video games, including the Rob Blanc which particularly pushed him to immense stardom. Since his breakout year, the multi-talented game maker’s popularity has soared and he has no plans of slowing down his activities in the industry.
Who is Yahtzee Croshaw?
He is a British multi-hyphenate who currently works for popular American video game website and online magazine, The Escapist, an Australian-based multi-platform video game magazine, Hyper, and the UK-headquartered gaming magazine, PC Gamer. Croshaw was born in England, precisely in Rugby, Warwickshire, on the 24th day of May 1983. He was raised together with an older brother by their parents whose identities are not known to the public.
The British star had his elementary education at Eastlands Primary School, from where he moved to Abbots Farm Middle School to further his education. From Abbots, Croshaw enrolled at Lawrence Sheriff School but sadly dropped out after making his debut adventure game. Yahtzee Croshaw’s decision not to go to college didn’t go down with his parents, as they wanted him to earn a degree. According to reports, the game developer doesn’t often speak to his brother and his parents are still not happy with his gaming career.
Yahtzee moved to Australia at the age of 20 to explore new career opportunities and later relocated to the United States in August 2016. Some of his notable AGS games include The Trials of Odysseus Kent, Lunchtime of the Damned which boasts more than 50 episodes, Adventures in the Galaxy of Fantabulous Wonderment, the 1213 series, Chzo Mythos, and Trilby: The Art of Theft.
Although the influential gaming sensation doesn’t write his own music, he, however, produces the animation and graphics of his own games using Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Paint.
The British multi-hyphenate joined The Escapist magazine after some reviews he uploaded on YouTube won the praises of critics. Ever since he started producing a weekly video-review column called Zero Punctuation for the magazine, games such as Silent Hill 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Portal, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Spec Ops: The Line, and Psychonauts, have won favourable reviews while Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Dark Souls are among his favorite games.
As a webcomic writer, Yahtzee Croshaw has written several projects such as Chris and Trilby, The Adventures of Angular Mike, Cowboy Comics!, Yahtzee Takes On The World, which ran from December 20, 2000, to September 22, 2002. His website also features two unpublished novels titled: “Fog Juice” and “Articulate Jim: A Search for Something.”
Does He Have a Wife or Girlfriend?
Yahtzee Croshaw has been a married man since 2018 when he reportedly walked his long-time girlfriend, Kess down the aisle. Unlike the video game developer, Kess is not known to many people but it appears she was a big fan of the British star before they met and eventually tied the knot.
As regards his girlfriend, Croshaw is not in an open relationship with any other lady apart from his wife at the time of writing. The sweethearts are happily married and have no plan of heading for divorce anytime in the future.
