Yellow Days – Biography & Age

George van den Broek was born in Manchester, England but grew up in Haslemere, a town that sits on the southern fringes of Surrey. His date of birth has not been revealed at the moment. Nothing is also known about his early years, his family or even his educational background. However, his musical venture is one that has been duly documented.

At the age of 11, van den Broek got a Christmas gift that would change the narrative of his life forever. He received a guitar then, and thus began his journey into the musical. Through his passion and sheer enthusiasm, Yellow days has proved that he not only has a good head on his shoulders but also one full of endless potential. Growing up, he made a makeshift studio at the bottom of his garden from where he created songs.

In late 2015, he started releasing solo singles and in turn, made Soundcloud uploads. Soon, both his piercingly honest lyrics and throaty, yearning vocals caught music lovers. What further put the light on him was the genre he played in; pop/rock with styles that include indie rock, alternative/indie rock, and indie pop.

His voice has been defined as one that seems to have seen many years and life. This may come from it being smog-thick and scratchy, often overwhelmed by the deft, mature way in which he channels emotion. His releases include songs about the ebb and flow of small-town life and falling in love with other themes like depression, anxiety, and politics. Every song in his catalog has continued to testify to his maturity. His influences include timeless vocalists such as Ray Charles, , Howlin’ Wolf, and Thundercat.

Yellow Days was signed by the indie label – Good Years. Under their guidance and tutelage, his somber debut EP Harmless Melodies arrived in November 2016 to warm reception. It was soon followed by the jangly and ruminating full-length album, Is Everything Okay in Your World? in October of 2017. The LP chronicles his struggles with mental health and growing up in a modern age. It also features Irish rapper, Rejjie Snow in one of its tracks titled Lately I. Between the two releases, he released periodic singles in 2017 some of which appeared on his LP.

He also performs in music festivals. Following the arrival of his LP, Yellow Days performed in the Tropicalia Music And Taco Festival on November 11, 2017, in Long Beach, California. After one of the singles from his EP, Gap in the Clouds accompanied the trailer for the second season of ‘s FX series Atlanta in early 2018, Yellow Days reached a broader audience. He released a single titled The Way Things Change in April 2018 and embarked on a world tour. He had a number of sold out club shows in the United States and then, in Europe.

With a performance slot at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the future is definitely looking bright for the young artist.
