Ylona Jade Garcia was born in Sydney, Australia, on February 28, 2002, to Filipino parents Peter Garcia and Caridad Navalle-Garcia, both of whom work as doctors in Australia. She is the youngest of five children. Garcia began performing as a front act for numerous Filipino singers and musicians, including Martin Nievera, Sarah Geronimo, and Rivermaya’s former main vocalist Bamboo Maalac, while on tour in Australia at a young age. Garcia also performed at the Filipino Fiesta in September 2014, singing “Break Free” by Zedd and Ariana Grande, which she recorded and uploaded to her YouTube account. She’s also competed in several singing competitions, winning two of them: the Urban Star Sydney Championship in December 2014, for which she earned the “Most Promising Talent” title, and the Fast Track Australian Singing Competition in March 2015, in which she competed in the junior class. On February 24, 88rising, an American-Asian worldwide record label, tweeted a mystery photo of Garcia with the phrase “sooner than you think.” Garcia will be managed by “Paradise Rising,” a company under 88rising and Globe Telecom that specializes in Filipino musicians, and was officially announced by the label on February 27.
Garcia stated on her official social media platforms on March 1 that she is preparing for her next return, announcing the single’s title “All That” and releasing a video teaser for the song. The official music video for Garcia’s single “All That” was released on March 3 via Paradise Rising. The song was well-received, with over one million views on YouTube in just four days.
Garcia was reported to be making her next comeback with a brand new track “Don’t Go Changing” for the Head in the Clouds album, according to an announcement made by 88rising on August 26. Garcia has confirmed that he will perform the song at the Head in the Clouds Festival in November. Garcia lit up the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California on November 7 with a 20-minute performance as part of the Head in the Clouds Music Festival 2021 stage.
