Yu Darvish’s Biography

The Stellar baseballer was born on August 16, 1986, in Habikino, Osaka as Farid Yu Darvishsefat to an Iranian father by a Japanese mother, and it was in Japan that he was raised.

It was hardly a surprise that Yu turned out to be a baseballer as his family was into sports. His father was a soccer player in his days. He attended the Gakko Hojin Nankogakuen Tohoku High School where he started playing when he was a boy in second grade. Yu rose steadily so that by the time he was in high school, he has already made a name for himself as one of the best players.

There, he led the school to many championships and finals which did not only attract the attention of scouts, but also that of the entire nation. Teams in both Japan and the United States sought to have his signature, but it was the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters that ended with it in 2005. As a result of his impact and skills at that young age, he was able to make it to the Japanese major league baseball, skipping college.

Yu Darvish remained with the Japanese baseball team until 2011 when he decided to leave home and play in the MLB for the Texas Rangers. He remained with the team until 2017 when he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Before he was traded, he had missed the 2015 season as a result of a torn UCL. Yu played for the Dodgers but left in 2018 after he was given a six-year deal by the Chicago Cubs worth $126 million.

As easily as can be described, his career has been very successful. In the MLB, he has thus far made 4 All-Stars and was AL Strikeout leader in 2013. Before joining the league, he had also left a great mark on the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).
