Legendary actor late, Robin Williams and his wife Valerie Velardi, who is also in the acting business, welcomed their only child – Zachary Pym Williams on April 11, 1983. He was born in San Francisco, California.

Like most kids born to thespians, Zachary didn’t have much of a choice and started acting from when he was just a kid through his father’s influence. As a child star, he was seen on shows like Extra and Entertainment Tonight. He finished his high school and college education at unknown institutions and proceeded to get an MBA from Columbia University, New York. At this time, it became clear that acting is not his forte, thus, he decided to stop following his father’s footsteps and tread his own path but not without appearing in a few more productions including The Graduates (2008).

The last time he played a role onscreen was in 2018 when he appeared in a documentary film. The project titled Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind chronicles the life and career attainments of Robin Williams as directed by American filmmaker Marina Zenovich. In the HBO feature documentary, Zachary Pym Williams poured his heart out about the struggles his late father had to live with.

Zachary Pym Williams is currently living a fulfilled life away from the showbiz sphere, ditching the whole glitz and glam for the sake of charity. He now has ties with non-profit organizations, working with them to help make life easier and bearable for the less privileged. He serves as a board member at various humanitarian organizations including Bring Change to Mind, San Francisco Film Society and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

In 2014, his wife, Alexandra Mallick, sold him the idea of helping prisoners in building hope for the future. This led him to start teaching at San Quentin State Prison, California, where he would go every week with Curtis Carroll, his partner in the campaign; their focus is on giving financial literacy education to prisoners. Together with one of his non-profit organizations, he is also spreading awareness about mental health among other projects that are geared towards the betterment of humanity.

In addition to his charity works and as a board member in nonprofit organizations, the former actor is also an employee at a tech company called Fizz.io.

Although Robin Williams’ life was fraught with hard substance abuse episodes and extramarital affairs (one with Zachary’s nanny Marsha Garces), Zachary Pym Williams still has so much love and respect for his memory. According to him, not a day goes by without him missing his father because when the iconic actor died, he lost a best friend.

In his statement a day after his father committed suicide, Zak expressed his grief over the loss of not just his father but a best friend and he also implored his fans to remember him as a gentle, kind and generous man that he was. Zak also opened up in the HBO documentary series about his dad, sharing detailed facts about the late movie icon’s struggles and how he would always feel he is not successful in his career when to Zak, his father is the most successful person he knows.

Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind – released January 2018 (Sundance) and July 16, 2018 (HBO) is the documentary that depicts the career and life of Robin Williams. The 117-minute-long piece includes interviews with some Hollywood bigwigs like , David Letterman, and others including Robin’s son Zachary.
