Famous In Love Cast
Based on the titular novel by Rebecca Serle, the characters in the show Famous in Love were brought to life by a few main cast members followed by some recurring roles.
Bella Thorne (Paige Townsen)
The American actress is seen as Paige Townsen on the show, a young college student with her focus on making her parents proud with good grades. Paige finds herself struggling to juggle school and the limelight as she lands the lead role in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series titled Locked. She is also caught in the crossfire of choosing between her flatmate Jake (Charlie DePew) and Rainer (Carter Jenkins) the movie star and her costar on Locked.
Bella Thorne has not been around for so long but her repertoire of films and television works speaks volumes. She was born on October 8, 1997, and has Cuban and Italian ancestry, with a mix of Irish, English, Welsh, and German from her mother’s side of the family. Thorne kicked off her career in entertainment as a child model and worked her way up the ladder, starting from the scratch. She is now a renowned actress, model, singer, and also directs music videos. Some of the films she has starred in include Blended (2014), Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip (2015), You Get Me (2017), The Babysitter (2017), Midnight Sun (2018), I Still See You (2018) and Assassination Nation (2018). She also appeared in a slew of TV series including Dirty Sexy Money (2007–2008), My Own Worst Enemy (2008), Little Monk (2009), Shake It Up (2010–2013) and many more.
Carter Jenkins (Rainer Devon)
His character on the show is as much of a movie star as Carter Jenkins is in real life. Amid issues cropping up in his love life and dwindling relationship with his best friend Jordan Wilder, Rainer Devon, the son of famous producer Nina Devon, finds out the man he thought to be his father was nothing but a stranger. A famous young star, Rainer is touted as the “sexiest man alive” and also finds himself exuding intense romantic interest in the new girl in the block – Paige Townsen.
Born on 4th September 4, 1991, Carter has been acting since 2003. He began in community theatre, proceeded to local and national commercials and today, he is one of the popular faces in both films and television series. He has played roles in films like Aliens in the Attic (2009), Valentine’s Day (2010), Struck by Lightning (2012), A Light Beneath Their Feet (2015), and Summer of 8 (2016).
He also has an impressive collection of projects on television, Jenkins was part of the main cast of Surface (2005–06), Viva Laughlin (2007), Unfabulous (2004–2005) and Lie to Me (2009–2010).
Charlie DePew (Jake Salt)
The Californian-native took over the role of Jake Salt from Jesse Henderson after the original pilot. Jake is the down-to-earth best friend of Paige and her later love interest. He aspires to have a career as a screenwriter and an indie filmmaker but keeps getting rejections for his works.
Charlie DePew has not been in the limelight for a long time. In fact, his works as an actor can mostly be seen in television series with Famous In Love as one of the biggest. He was born on May 22, 1996, in California and debuted as an actor in Shake It Up (2010), alongside Bella Thorne.
Keith Powers (Jordan Wilder)
Caught up in a lot of troubles, movie star Jordan gets cast in Locked alongside his best friend Rainer and their shared love interest Tangey. Turns out Tangey is not the only reason Rainer should hate Jordan, apparently, he has been sleeping with his (Rainer) mom!
Born on August 22, 1992, in Sacramento, California, Keith Powers started modeling at the age of 9 and even played football in school but he didn’t go pro with it. He tried acting in 2013 and got hooked. His most popular roles can be seen in series The New Edition Story and the film Straight Outta Compton.
Georgie Flores (Cassandra “Cassie” Perkins)
Paige’s roommate and friend who auditioned for the role of August in Locked sees herself getting jealous because her friend got the part. She also has a secret life she doesn’t want anyone to know about and struggles to handle things when it got leaked. Georgie Flores’ most popular role might be in Famous in Love but she has guest-starred in Big Time Rush, CSI and the CSI spin-offs CSI: NY and CSI: Miami. She was born on October 15, 1996, in the United States.
Niki Koss (Alexis Glenn)

A pop star who is also a part of Locked, Tangey’s mother calls the shots in her career and personal life. She was born on 8 September 1993 in Lagos, Nigeria.
Perrey Reeves (Nina Devon)
The equally famous mother of movie star Rainer, Nina is all kinds of smart, especially when scheming on how to cover her tracks and make anything, or anyone go away.
Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Barrett)
Born on November 4, 1985, in London, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett studied at the BRIT School for performing arts for four years and proceeded to the Central School of Speech and Drama to further hone his skills.
The British entertainer played Barret, an entertainment reporter whose hunger for celebrity gossip cost his life. His time on the show ended in season 1.
Shawn Christian (Alan Mills)
The new head of the film studio producing Locked, Alan finds out he has a son he didn’t know of until he is all grown up. Born on December 18, 1965, Shawn Christian has been an active film and television actor since 1994.
Seasons and Episodes
So far, Famous in Love has only two seasons and there is no certainty of a continuation. Both the first and second seasons are made up of 10 episodes each. In the first installment which first aired on April 18, 2017, Paige Townsen, a regular student aiming for a degree in Business lands a major role in a much-anticipated new movie. She is then faced with the troubles of juggling school, working on set, and keeping up with her friends, apparently, the road to fame is not a smooth one. The first season ended on June 13, 2017.
On April 4, 2018, the series returned with a second season where all the characters struggle to sort out issues that keep popping up in their career and personal lives. As production for Locked wraps up, they are faced with the task of choosing the next step to take in life. The final episode aired on May 30, 2018. Generally, season one of the show averaged 330,000 viewers while a total of 254,000 watched the second installment.
Is Famous in Love Cancelled?
Amid deteriorating viewership and ratings, Famous in Love aired its last episode in mid-2018. While the show had potentials when it started, the fanbase continued to wane with each episode until the last episode of season 2. Thus, it didn’t come as a surprise when, just a month after the second season ended, Freeform announced the cancellation of Famous in Love. In a statement issued by the production, there won’t be a third season for the show.
Asides losing popularity among audiences, the show’s cancellation can also be linked to Freeform’s fallout with Hulu, their streaming partner. According to different sources, Freeform wanted more money before a third season can be approved but this was not forthcoming as Hulu refused to add more money to fund the show. Also, Famous in Love star Bella Thorne made the cancellation a relief to the production crew who were getting tired of her diva behaviour on set. The show was cancelled after a few of weeks of also giving Shadowhunters the boot.
