Fine boy, Chadwick Boseman is at it again to impress fans as he stars in a new film, 21 Bridges. The announcement came in July 2018 and if you are yet to see the trailer of the film, you have definitely not crossed this exciting bridge. Ever since his awesome portrayal of T’challa in Marvel’s Black Panther, the talented actor has gotten millions of eyes glued to him. The Black Panther star himself has described the soon to be premiered film as a fast-paced action movie with the fast-paced language like David Mamet.
It’s easy to guess that a lot of people will be excited to see Boseman play a character much different from his Black Panther personae which he used to spread his fame worldwide, 21 Bridges provided that opportunity. The film is directed by Brian Kirk, who has shown his directing skills in episodes of , Penny Dreadful, and Luther among many others. Let’s wait and see what this new action-filled story will bring with it.
21 Bridges: 5 Things to Know About Chadwick Boseman’s New Movie
1. It’s Non-SuperHero Movie
Forget how used you are to seeing Chadwick Boseman slay his enemies as the fierce Black Panther, the trailer of 21 Bridges does little to hide the fact that the film’s plot is a huge step away from that of the Black Panther storyline. The movie is not superhero-themed which means no pretty costumes to give Boseman an exotic look.
2. 21 Bridges Plot
Written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, the film sees Boseman portraying the character of Andre Davis, who goes through the horrible experience of losing his dad, who is a cop, and as a result, he grows up nursing disdain for cop killers. He joins the NYPD as a detective and is bent on hunting any cop killer down. A case involving cop killers arises and Andre Davis is called in to hunt down those responsible. He goes to extremes to get these guys and shuts down every possible route out of Manhattan, including closing all of the city’s 21 bridges, from which the film derives its name. The trailer for the movie is rather bland as it is one of those trailers that give the entire movie away. Perhaps, there is something more the director of the film has in stock for fans. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.
3. Who are the Producers?
21 Bridges is closer to home than many may think. If you are familiar with the directors of the , then you should have no problem recognizing brothers Joe and Anthony Russo as they are the ones who produced the film, 21 Bridges, alongside Mike Larocca, Gigi Pritzker, actor Chadwick Boseman, and Logan Coles. Like an octopus, the Russo brothers are spreading their tentacles and this is quite obvious as fans will get to experience their production prowess on this new action film. 21 Bridges is their first project following their work on Avengers: End game and it will be exciting to see what they have done with this non-superhero film, employing the directorial skills of Brian Kirk.
4. Boseman’s Co-Actors
Many may not know that Boseman’s latest movie work is coming to theatres without a star suffused cast, but it’s no reason to kill your expectation of what the film can offer. Boseman’s charms and amazing acting talent might just be enough to sway fans or give them their money’s worth. Disregarding this, a number of his co-stars may appear familiar. Some of the actors he stars with in 21 Bridges include ,, , , and the lovable .
5. When is 21 Bridges Hitting Theatres?
According to reports, 21 Bridges got a huge response when its trailer was included in the Hall H Comic-Con panel. The movie was originally slated to hit theatres on July 12, 2019, but for some reasons, it was moved to September 27, 2019. However, it has again been rescheduled to be released on November 22, 2019.
Releasing 21 Bridges in November gives it a new bunch of movies to compete with, including A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Terminator: Dark Fate, and Doctor Sleep. One way or the other, these films could swallow up 21 Bridges or the latter could end up being yet another big hit Chadwick Boseman stars in. Hopefully, there will be no more delay concerning its release and fans will finally get to see what Boseman has been up to since stepping away from Black Panther.
