Though the role propelled Hsu to much fame, she chose not to capitalize on it but went ahead to pursue other interests. Read on as we unravel the true identity of Rush Hour‘s Julia Hsu.
Julia Hsu – Biography
Julia Hsu was born in the year 1986 in Los Angeles, California – the seat of all things Hollywood, thus it is no surprise that she was able to pick up an interest in acting at a very early age.
While the story of how she booked the part of Chinese Consul Solon Han’s daughter Soo Yung Han in Rush Hour isn’t known, it would turn out that Hsu had a very short-lived acting career, the reasons of which are unknown as well.
Despite her impressive performance in that role, Julia Hsu went on to appear in just one more film before she unofficially disappeared from the Hollywood space. That film was a 2001 independent short film titled, Three Exits. Hsu played the role of Theresa in the film which also starred renowned entertainers like Phil Hawn who is known for his work in Veep and The Office, and Cathleen Chin – who is renowned for her roles in 2001’s Dead Sexy and 1991’s Defending Your Life.
The short film, Three Exits was the last time that Julia Hsu would appear in the media space until sometime in 2017 when articles online began linking her to a certain Instagram celebrity who also goes by the name Julia Hsu.
As the Instagram Julia Hsu garnered more fame, many automatically thought that it was Rush Hour‘s Hsu making a comeback to the spotlight. Articles with titles like “You Won’t Believe What Julia Hsu From Rush Hour Looks Like Now” referred to the two ladies as being the same person, but without solid proof.
While there is a striking similarity between these two, they are different people and Rush Hour‘s Julia Hsu isn’t the same person as the social media star Julia Hsu, they only happen to share the same name. One glaring fact is that while the Rush Hour actress hails from Los Angeles, the social media star is a Texas native who lives in Houston. A more solid fact is that Hsu’s IMDB profile clearly states that she is not an Instagram star nor a rapper.
So where then is the Rush Hour actress and what is she doing now? From our findings, Julia Hsu made a career switch from acting to the corporate world. She is still based in LA and works as a Senior Human Resource Business Partner at the Santa Monica-based Snap Inc. – a role she assumed in November 2018.
So it turns out that a couple of years after her last film appearance, Julia Hsu went back to school. She attended the University of Southern California from where she graduated in 2008 with a degree in Business Administration, Business Cinema-Television.
