Angie Dickinson is a popular American actress who was a prominent face on screen for over six decades. Her foray into acting began with her starring in television shows especially in the Anthology series around the 50s. However, her hit roles came in 1956 after she acted in the movie, Gun the Man Down. So far, her talents and impressive career have earned her a good number of awards including; a “Golden Globe Award” for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama, three “Primetime Emmy Award“ for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, a “Saturn Award“ for Best Actress among others. Biography of Angie Dickinson
Angie Dickinson whose birth name is Angeline Brown was born in Kulm, North Dakota, in the United States on the 30th of September 1931, to parents, Leo Henry Brown and Fredericka Brown who raised her in the Catholic faith. She has three sisters which makes her the second child of four daughters by her parents. From her surname, one can tell that she has a heritage outside of America and rightly so, she has German ancestry. Her father Leo was the editor and publisher of a small-town newspaper.
When she was 10 years old, Angie and her family relocated to Burbank California and was enrolled in the Bellarmine-Jefferson High School. There, she became the proud winner of the Sixth Annual Bill of Rights essay contest. By the year 1947, at the age of 15 when she graduated from high school, Dickinson then proceeded to further her education at the Immaculate Heart College. While in the college, she also worked at Lockheed Air Terminal as a secretary because she had earlier planned on becoming a writer just like her father. Nevertheless, Angie later graduated with a business degree in 1954.
In 1953, just before she completed school, Angie Dickinson partook in a beauty competition where she came second. As a result of this, she got the chance to meet a producer in the television industry who later helped her gain in-roads into Hollywood as an actress.
She later made her debut first as a television actress in one of the episodes of Death Valley Days. To date, the actress has over 149 credits in her career spanning over 6 decades. Some of her most memorable works include; Gun the Man Down, Police Woman,” Rio Bravo, and a host of others.

One thing that made her highly sought after in her heydays was the fact that she was willing to play raunchy roles and go unclad especially in an era that was just beginning to experience a sexual revolution. Daughter
Angie Dickinson’s first marriage was to ex-football player, Gene Dickinson, a union which began in the year 1952. This was actually the time she changed her surname from Brown to Dickinson. They, however, got separated in 1960 without any child in the marriage.
The actress later met Burt Bacharach with whom she tied the knot in the year 1965. She, however, maintained the surname ‘Dickinson’ form her previous marriage due to her popularity with the name. The following year their only daughter together, Lea Nikki Bacharach was born. Sadly, it was a three months premature birth. Nikki had a few unfortunate complications including; visual impairment, and Asperger syndrome.

Due to this condition, Angie Dickinson rejected lots of great roles just to care for her daughter the best way she can. However, Nikki was later placed in a psychiatric residential treatment facility for adolescents for a period of nine years. Nikki managed to get into the California Lutheran University but after graduating she couldn’t further a career in that line due to the vision impairment she was dealing with. Sadly, in her apartment located in the Ventura County suburb of Thousand Oaks, Nikki Bacharach committed suicide by suffocation to escape her predicament. This occurred on the 4th of January 2007, at the age of 40.
It is interesting to note that when she was a little girl, her father Burt wrote a song titled, Nikki for his fragile daughter.

The Hollywood veteran is very much alive though over 86 years old, she is still healthy and going strong. Most recently, Angie Dickinson was spotted outside her home in Los Angeles when went out to drop off trash wearing a hat, big white sweater, black pair of pant and flip-flops.
