Mollie King has proven to be a star of diverse talents in her long-running showbiz career. She shot into the spotlight as a member of the highly successful girl group ‘The Saturdays’. During their 7-year run, The Saturdays released several Top 10 albums in addition to multiple UK number 1 hits.

Mollie Elizabeth King was born on the 4th day of June 1987 in the London Borough of Wandsworth, England. Growing up, she was an excellent skier and she was a member of the British Children’s Ski Team. This earned her a scholarship to study at the British Ski Academy. She had a fairly successful ski career as a teenager but she eventually opted out of a fulltime ski career to pursue music.
Back in 2004 and 2005, Mollie King auditioned for The X Factor both as a solo artist and as a member of the all-girl group ‘Fallen Angelz’. In 2007, she formed another girl group The Saturdays alongside Frankie Bridge, Una Healy, Rochelle Humes, and Vanessa White. The group achieved 4 top ten albums including 13 number hits from 2008 to 2014.
The Saturdays’ first official single “If This Is Love” was released in July 2008 and it made it to the number 8 spot on the UK Singles Chart. This and several other top 10 hits were contained in the group’s debut album Chasing Lights which peaked at No 9 on the UK Albums Chart. This debut album was a massive commercial success as it has since attained double platinum status in the UK.
The group’s sophomore album Wordshaker (2009) also peaked at number 9 in the UK and it also contained a few top ten hits. Their subsequent albums Headlines! (2010), On Your Radar (2011) and Living for the Weekend (2013) were also fairly successful. The group also headlined several tours both in the UK and across the US. They temporarily moved to the United States in late 2012 in a bid to break into the US music scene.
Their US trip ultimately culminated in the group’s first international single “What About Us”, a collaboration with , in December 2012. Their 3-month stay in the country was chronicled in a one-season long reality TV series, Chasing the Saturdays, which premiered on the E! network in January 2013. Despite these laudable successes on the international scene, the group went on a hiatus in 2014.
Mollie King swiftly began working on her solo career after landing a recording contract with Island Records in October 2015. She equally has delved into other aspects of show business while she continues to work on her debut solo album. She appeared on the British TV dance contest Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional dancer AJ Pritchard in 2017. King became Matt Edmondson’s co-host on BBC Radio 1 in April 2018. She equally became a co-presenter on the British daytime TV program This Morning in August 2018.
