Alexa Vega is that child star from the spy adventure comedy film series, Spy Kids, who thrilled us with not only her perfect portrayal of Carmen Cortez but also with her stunts and adventurous spirit. She is an American actress and singer. Though she has been in the industry for like a lifetime, she shows no sign of stopping or slowing down and apparently, she still has a lot to bring to the table.

Alexa Ellesse Vega was born to her Colombian father, Baruch Vega, a fashion photographer and American mother, Gina Rue, a former model on August 27, 1998, in Florida and lived on a ranch until she moved with her family to California when she was four. She has six siblings including half-sisters Greylin James and Margaux Vega, and half-brother Jet James as well as actresses and Krizia Vega.
As a child, she was very athletic and took part in several sports like cross country running and water polo. She also took dancing lessons and is an experienced gymnast as well. Probably due to the myriad of activities, she was engaged in and her blossoming career, Vega didn’t attend a regular school but was homeschooled as a teenager.

Her journey into the world of portrayals took off at the age of 5 when her mother discovered her daughter was born with an uncanny talent to perform. She succeeded in her first audition for the role of Emily Newton in the final season of Evening Shade (1993-1994). After that, roles started trickling in and the prodigy took to the screen with full force and vigour. She appeared in several other television shows and films in the 1990’s including ER, Little Giants, Nine Months, Chicago Hopes, Life’s Work, Twister, The Magnificent Seven, To Have & to Hold, Dennis the Menace Strikes Again, Ladies Man. During that period, Vega also shared the screen with prominent acts like in The Glimmer Man, in Ghosts of Mississippi and Michelle Pfeiffer in The Deep End of the Ocean.
Since then, she became a firm fixture on our screens with her phenomenal delivery of dialogues and exceptional performances. After almost a decade of acting, Alexa Vega’s breakout role finally came in 2001. She appeared in Spy Kids as Carmen Cortez. The film became a huge hit and subsequently spawned two sequels, Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams (2002) and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003) as well as the third one a decade later, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World where she appeared as a grown Carmen in 2011. With a background in athletics, she performed most of her own stunts during the shooting of the first three films.

While it is customary for a bride to change her last name following her marriage, the couple took the name change to another level by blending their last names to have it as a unit, PenaVega.
