He was born on September 10, 1968, in Hatfield, Hertfordshire to his parents – Amber Parkinson, and Captain John Vivian Ritchie. He is the youngest of two children. Guy’s older sister, Tabitha is a dance instructor. He also has a half-brother named Kevin Baynton, born when his mother was a teenager. Ritchie had a troubled childhood growing up. He was expelled in high school when he was caught indulging in some improper activities but he remained inclined to the creative arts all through his childhood.
Guy’s directing career kicked off in 1998 when his supportive father linked him up with an investor who financed his film. This gave birth to Ritchie’s first production – The Hard Case, a short film. It was followed by the production of the film Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, released in 1998. The second movie which was a huge success ushered Guy into the limelight and drew him a lot of international attention. The movie earned him the Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Motion Picture Screenplay. Guy went further to create a spin-off series Lock, Stock.
