Devin Harris is a National Basketball Association veteran point guard who has spent most of his 14-year career with the Dallas Mavericks. The fifth overall pick by the Washington Wizards in the 2004 NBA draft has not just made strides on the court by becoming Wisconsin’s Mr. Basketball in 2001 and the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2004, but by also holding the Guinness World Record for being the fastest man ever with a basketball.
Biography
On the 27th of February, 1983, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Devin Lamar Harris was welcomed into the world. He is one of three children born to his parents; Terry and Julie Harris. His siblings are brother Bruce, and sister Tanisha.
From a very young age, Harris was noted for his exceptional athletic ability. While attending Wauwatosa East High School, he participated in basketball and volleyball, although the latter was just for one season during which he gained all-conference honors. After choosing to focus on basketball, Harris first battled a few injuries that limited his appearances, but by his senior year, however, he was able to blow his scouts and coaches away with magnificent performances that helped him set his high school’s scoring record while leading the team through an undefeated regular season.
At the end of his high school year, Devin Harris was named Wisconsin Mr. Basketball as he accepted an offer to attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In his freshman year playing for the Badgers, Harris and his team surprised everybody by unexpectedly winning the Big Ten Championship. The team went on to repeat the feat in his sophomore year, with him particularly being singled out and named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. By his junior college year, Devin Harris had established himself as one of the top players in the country. That year, he received the Silver Basketball award as the Big Ten Player of the Year and was also named a Second Team All-American. Harris subsequently announced that he was forgoing his senior college year to enter the 2004 NBA Draft.
Devin Harris was selected with the 5th overall pick by the Washington Wizards and was subsequently traded to the Dallas Mavericks. He went on to average 5.7 points and 2.2 assists in 76 appearances. The following season, Harris showed remarkable improvement in his game which earned him comparisons to even though he spent a while on the sidelines due to injuries. He averaged 9.9 points and 3.2 assists in 56 regular season games before the injury but returned for the playoffs and helped his team get all the way to the finals where they lost to the Miami Heat.
Harris’ stay with the Mavericks came to an abrupt end in February 2008 when he was traded to the New Jersey Nets. In just two seasons with his new team, he posted career highs in points and rebounds per game, becoming a fan favorite as he made his first and only All-Star appearance as a reserve in 2009. Harris played a total of four seasons with the Nets which was followed by a two-year stint with the Utah Jazz and a year with the Atlanta Hawks before he headed back to Dallas for a second spell with the Mavs.
After five years with the Mavericks, Devin Harris joined the Denver Nuggets in January 2018. He spent only half of the season with them before again rejoining the Mavericks for a third spell in August 2018.

The pair began dating in January 2009, and after a few years of getting to know each other, they decided to take the next step by exchanging marital vows in 2013. Together, the couple is said to have been blessed with two children.
Meghan Allen, who was born on the 12th of November, 1980, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, is quite popular in her own respect. She has modeled for Playboy Magazine, notably being named Playboy Cyber Girl of the Month for January 2008, and competed on the NBC reality television shows; Fear Factor and Momma’s Boys.
Brother
Devin Harris lost his brother Bruce on the 19th of October 2017 in North Dallas, Texas. Bruce died in a horrific car crash after the car he was riding in, which had broken down on Central Expressway near Walnut Hill, was rear-ended at about 1:45 a.m. The vehicle which had two occupants in it was said to have also caught fire after the collision.
Bruce Harris has since his passing, been described as a humorous and cheerful guy by people who knew him, including his brother’s teammates, he leaves behind a son named Brayden.
