As chronicled by the football association, Allen didn’t just carve a niche for himself as one of NFL’s greatest players of all time for nothing. The retired professional footballer practically worked his way into stardom by working on his athletic talent more than most of his teammates as well as putting up impressive performances during competitive fixtures and championships.

Unlike most elite NFL players, Marcus spent his career years with just two teams – the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Raiders. His stint with the latter lasted for a decade (from 1982 to 1992) while his contract with the former survived from 1993 to 1997 when he officially announced his retirement from football.

A look at his career timeline shows Allen caught 587 passes for 5,412 yards, scored 145 touchdowns, ran for 12,243 yards during his active years for both teams. He also holds the record as the first footballer to gain over 5,000 receiving yards and 10,000 rushing yards in the NFL history. These feats and more led to his election to six Pro Bowls and induction into both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame. To his credit, Marcus equally stands out as the only NFL player to be named Super Bowl MVP as well as NFL MVP. He is also a proud winner of the Super Bowl, NCAA national championship, and the Heisman Trophy, making him one of NFL’S most illustrious short-yard runners and goal line to ever grace the oval leather game.

Marcus currently works as a spokesman and blogger for OPENSports.com, a sports website.

Marcus Allen’s Bio

The former Los Angeles running back was born on the 26th day of March 1960 to Gwendolyn Allen (mother) and Harold Allen (father) in San Diego, California and this makes his nationality American.

Marcus Allen started his educational career at Abraham Lincoln High School where he featured with the school’s football team as a safety man and Quarterback. Upon completion of his studies at the school, he proceeded to the University of California (USC) to further his education. While his stint lasted from 1978 to 1981, he was a member of the institution’s football team and was famed for featuring as a tailback and defensive back. His four seasons with his college football team also opened the opportunity for him to rush for over 2,000 yards in one season, becoming the second player to achieve such feat in NCAA history.
