Dwayne Michael Carter Jr was born on September 27, 1982, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Lollipop crooner was raised in a not well to do family. His mother was a cook and gave birth to him at age 19 and Wayne was only 2 years old when his parent got divorced and his father, Dwayne Carter abandoned the family permanently.
The rapper has been open about his resentment for his biological father. During an interview with CBS, he explained that he rather be Wayne than Dwayne, since the older man has never been in his life. When asked if his father knows of his existence Wayne said: “he knows now.”
Growing up in the impoverish Hollygrove neighborhood, Wayne began to rap at a very young age. Although he attended McMain Magnet School, Wayne dropped out to focus on music at age 14. One notable tragic event of his childhood was the time he accidentally shot himself with a 9 mm handgun. However, he survived after an off-duty police officer Robert Hoobler took him to the hospital. Wayne was only 12.
In 1991, Lil Wayne crossed path with Cash Money Records’ brothers, Bryan and Slim Williams who took him under their wing. With his zeal and rapping talents, his debut album Get It How U Live, with the Hot Boys group was released in 1996. Ever since then, Lil Wayne has remained a big deal. He is $150 million richer, and a father of four kids; married once to Antonia Wright (2004 – 2006) but now single and retired from music to pursue other interests.
That interest is yet to be revealed; whether dating again is one of them is not clear but here’s a breakdown of Wayne’s relationships with women over the years.
