It’s the 21st century, a time when social media knows no bounds, a time when YouTube stars are springing forth from different parts of the world, even from parts where the video-sharing platform isn’t allowed. Take for instance Pakistani-Canadian media personality, Sham Idrees who has become uber-popular online, especially on YouTube, a platform that is blocked from the airwaves of his native country. Who Is Sham Idrees? – Bio & Age
“Who Is Sham Idrees?” is the question many have been asking in recent years. Interest in the Pakistani YouTube personality surged in May 2018 in the wake of his infamous feud with fellow Pakistani YouTuber Ducky Bhai. The feud tarnished his reputation to a great extent and even cost him many followers, however, Sham maintains a loyal fanbase of at least a million people.
Sham Idrees is a musician, music director, and YouTuber of Pakistani origin. He was born Ehtesham Idrees on October 16th, 1988 in England. Despite being raised away from his native land, Idrees has stayed true to his roots and is fluent in his native tongue. Not much information is available about his parents and how he grew up but it is a proven fact that he is the second cousin of former One Direction star . He also has a younger sister named Anna who has been featured in a number of his videos. She got married in August 2018.
Idrees and his family would later relocate to Ontario, Canada where he lives to this day. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Ontario. Sham Idrees’ got his first taste of fame in 2012 when his debut single “Bolo Na,” released in the summer of 2012 topped the UK Asian charts. He would go on to release other successful songs like “Pyar Hoa,” “London 2 Paris,” and “Fame and a Girl.”
In order to boost his music career, Sham Idrees created a YouTube Channel on November 19th, 2013 where he began sharing his music videos. Additionally, he began showcasing his comic side by posting funny video clips including prank videos.
Thanks to his incredible wit and originality, the channel soon garnered a lot of traction, propelling Sham to widespread recognition. He now owns three YouTube Channels including Sham Idrees VLOGS and Sham Idrees Fitness, the former surpassed 1 million subscribers in June 2018, thus earning him his second golden play button from YouTube.
Sham’s remix of “Dil Dil Pakistan” produced by Kemyst was one of his earliest works to go viral in the Pakistan media. It was featured by many popular TV stations including PTV and GEOTV, and also received a lot of airplay on the radio.
Sham Idrees became his own undoing in April 2018 when he took to the social media to share the immediate aftermath of an accident that involved him and his frequent collaborator, Queen Froggy. Right after the accident that was a head-on collision between their car and another, Sham pulled out his phone and recorded the incident after which . Unfortunately, the video didn’t sit well with a majority of his fans who perceived it as a desperate attempt to garner views on his channel.
Idrees was a subject of backlash in the weeks that followed and exacerbating the situation was Pakistani YouTuber Ducky Bhai who made a video calling out Sham and his partner Froggy for posting fake videos and scripted pranks while exposing their tactics. Ducky Bhai’s video immediately became the number one trending video on YouTube immediately garnering 2.3 million views. Idrees didn’t go down without a fight though as he made a rebuttal video debunking Bhai’s claims. They continued to drag each other until there was obviously nothing left to drag.
Each party has since gone ahead to focus on their respective careers. Like most popular YouTube stars, Sham Idrees bolsters his YouTube income by selling his merchandise, a clothing line called Rebel via his official eponymous website. At the , Idrees was the finalist for Best Director, but the award was snagged by Paul Feig.
His Wife/Girlfriend
Contrary to speculations, Sham Idrees is not married to his frequent collaborator Queen Froggy (real name Seher) who features as his wife and girlfriend in his comedy skits, the two are just very good friends who are dedicated to supporting each other in their careers. As far as we can tell, Sham Idrees is not married. Also, he was rumored to be dating Nayab a girl he frequently featured in his videos, however, the rumor was never confirmed. Sham has never really gone public with details of his romantic life.
