Tamara Dhia is an Iraqi-American Actress, TV personality, and Journalist. She is popularly known for playing the lead role (Amal) in Santa Claus in Baghdad (2008).

Apart from that, she has had a number of other roles which have equally brought more fame her way. Tamara is currently the host of TRL (Total Request Live), the MTV show reboot which began airing in 2017.

Age and Early Life

To the best of our knowledge, Tamara Dhia was born in Baghdad, Iraq. Her date of birth was on November 22, 1992. It is said that her parents fled Iraq for the United States of America; as such, Tamara was raised in Nashville, Tennessee, United States.

Records have it that Tamara attended the American University in Washington D.C where she bagged a B.A in Communications (Broadcast Journalism) in 2003.

She relocated to New York in a bid to promote her acting career. The short film, Superdude & Friend (2005) where she played the role of a frightened onlooker is one of her earliest works in the movie industry. The Arabian damsel has also upped her game in the industry by attending several classes and training notably with One on One, Atlantic Acting School and American University.

The Actress is represented by Bohemia Entertainment Group, LLC (CA). She has played lead roles in several films and TV shows including The Coasters, Cellular, The Wood, Saveta, Layla is Bad and Canikaze, The Part Is Over, and Shit White Girls Say…To Arab Girls. Her works in a supporting role include Transient, Tuesday’s Child, and Chris Weisberg is Going Bald. Tamara has also been a host for the show, My LA. She did a brief stint in voice acting when she featured as a voice-over in Criss-Cross (A & E pilot greenlit).

As a theatre performer, she has played lead roles in plays like, Learn to be Latina in San Diego’s Diversionary Theatre, Dear Mrs. Ferrell in the Actor’s Circle Theatre, and Hurry! at the Cherry Lane Theatre, New York City. Meanwhile, the Actress was also a part of the Acme Comedy Theatre Productions where she played a number of roles in Middle Eastern Comedy Festival.

Tamara is a co-founder of a production company called Welcome UpsideDown Productions. Here, she uses her writing and producing skills in making short plays and films.

Beyond her acting endeavors, she has also tried her hands and talents in a couple of other jobs particularly in the media. In April 2009 – December 2012, she served as a Freelance Event Contractor with BNP Paribas in New York City. There, her job description was being an assistant to the events team especially on jobs located off-site around the country. She was basically the Event Director’s right-hand man.

Tamara also worked as a Social media Consultant for Playa Restaurant from December 2010 to December 2012. The Restaurant won the Best Chef and Best New Restaurant in 2011 (Esquire magazine). She was concerned with increasing their web presence and she succeeded with a 700% spike in followers.

More to that, she worked as a blogger from April 2011 – 2013 for Backstage and was easily one of the top-visited bloggers on the platform. The series she did was dedicated to bringing a behind the scenes look of the life of up and coming talents. In 2013, Tamara also worked as an On-Air Host for SpinMedia, Inc., she was a female voice in a largely male-dominated gaming world.

This beauty has also worked with HeyUglyBaby Productions as a Head Writer, Producer, and Content Creator for about 3 years (August 2012 – April 2015). That’s not all, Tamara worked as Editorial Producer at Complex Networks where she wrote scripts and appeared in videos.
