Edward Harrison Norton was born on the 18^th of August, 1969 in Boston, Massachusetts to Edward Mower Norton and Lydia Robin Norton. Though born in Boston, he was raised in Columbia, Maryland. His father severed in Vietnam before becoming an environmental lawyer and conversation advocate. His mother was an English Teacher before she passed away from a brain tumor. His mother’s father was James Rouse, an American urban planner, real estate developer, philanthropist, and civic activist. James Rouse founded ‘The Rouse Company’ and is responsible for the development of Columbia where Edward grew up. The actor has two younger siblings – Jim and Molly – both of whom he occasionally works with professionally.

Edward and his brother, Jim, both attended Camp Pasquaney from 1981 to 1985. He won the Camp Pasquaney acting cup in 1984 and would later return to the camp but not as a camper but rather as a member of the camp’s council, directing theatre. Till this day, he maintains a connection with the camp which is located along the shores of Newfound Lake in Bristol, New Hampshire.

The actor attended Wide Lake High School and was classmates with Robert Kolker (best selling author) and Mark Levine (New York City Council Member).
