Ashley Victoria Benson was born on December 18, 1989, in Anaheim Hills, Anaheim, California, where she grew up in the world of entertainment. She was raised by her parents Jeff Benson and Shannon Harte alongside older sister named Shaylene. 

Her father is of English and German descent and her mother is of Irish descent.

It was revealed that Benson was a miracle child born prematurely two months early than expected, she weighed 2 pounds 8 oz and remained in the ICU for 8 weeks. Doctors told her parents she’ll need a heart surgery on December 25th but their prayers were answered on that Christmas day and the doctors confirmed the hole in her heart had mysteriously closed up. No longer needing any surgeries, Benson was released from the hospital at 4 1/2 pounds and has remained healthy ever since.

Sharing more about her childhood on Instagram, Benson said her mum always took she and her sister Shaylene to the mall on the weekends for a glamour shoot. Plus she was afraid of heights. At age 3, Ashley Benson got enroled in ballet dance class and musicals like tap, jazz, and hip-hop. Then she joined her church choir where she performed solo. When she turned 8, Ford Models contracted her to appear in several print ads.

Career

Benson practically grew up into modeling and acting. Besides signing with Ford Models at a very young age, she featured as a series regular on the daytime soap Days of Our Lives, for three years.

She landed her big screen debut playing a minor role in the comedy film 13 Going on 30 in 2004. This was followed by the Bring It On franchise. To play the cheerleading stunts, Benson had to overcome her fear of heights. But that was the big career challenge she had to face to step out of working only on the soap operas and end her contract with Days of our Lives.
