James Harden has gone beyond the point where he is trying to prove anything. Harden who is the youngest of three children was born on August 23, 1989, in Los Angeles, California. His time at Artesia High School in Lakewood saw him improve his stats every season, leading the team to the California state title in his junior and senior years. He was named a McDonald’s All-American and also bagged second-team All-American honors.

In his freshman year at Arizona State University, Harden’s 17.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assist game averages saw him help the Sun Devil’s to a tied for the fifth position at the Pac-10 Conference. His efforts saw him named to the conference’s all-freshman team. James’s sophomore season saw him finish with 20.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists game average. His Professional Career

1. Oklahoma City Thunders

Harden continued to break personal and team records with the Thunders after he joined them as the third overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. He scored a season-high 26 points in his first two seasons with the team and a season-high 40 points from a reserve role in his third and final season. In his first season, he attempted and made seven consecutive three-pointers across two games, making him the first rookie to achieve it since Michael Dickerson in 1999. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team at the end of his first season.

Harden was named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in the 2011-2012 season after averaging 16.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in a total of 62 games, of which he started only two of them. 2. Houston Rockets

On October 31, 2012, James Harden put pen to paper on a five-year $80 million deal with the Houston Rockets. On that same day, he made his debut and became the first NBA player in history to hit stats as high as 37 points, 12, assists, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 block in his debut game. James also scored 45 points in his second game, bringing his points total to 82, a first-ever in the history of the NBA. He hit his first triple-double (21 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists) against Charlotte Bobcats on February 2, 2013, and a career-high 46 points eighteen days later in a win against his former team. Harden’s efforts earned him several Player of the Week honors and his first All-Star selection as a reserve in the 2013 NBA All-Star Game.

In his sophomore campaign with the Rockets, Harden was named Western Conference Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks between February and March. He also scored a season-high 43 points in a win over the Sacramento Kings. Harden was named again as a reserve to the 2014 NBA All-Star Game and was later promoted to a replacement starter for the All-Star Game. At the conclusion of the campaign, he was named to the All-NBA First team.

James Harden’s 2014-2015 season saw him become the first player in NBA history to hit 50 points twice in a single campaign while leading his team to their first division in a little over twenty years. James Harden’s 2015-2016 season saw him become the first ever player in the NBA to record at least 450 points, 152 assists and 102 rebounds in a single month of a campaign. He also usurped Artis Gilmore’s top position for the number of turnovers in a single season. At the end of the campaign, Harden also joined the ranks of Oscar Robertson, , and as the only NBA players ever to post a season average of at least 29 points, 7.5 assists, and 6 rebounds in one season.

In 2016, Harden signed a whopping new four-year $118 million contract with the Rockets and continued to break records. He scored triple-doubles in four consecutive games and won several Western Conference Player of the Month and Player of the Week honors, tieing Hakeem Olajuwon’s franchise history. Harden finished the 2016-2017 season with 22 triple-doubles and over 2000 points, becoming the first ever franchise player to do that.

 

He started the 2017-2018 season with another four-year contract of $160 million bringing his total to a six-year contract worth a guaranteed $228 million. In this season he became the first franchise player to hit 20 points and over in each of his team’s first 30 games. He also scored a career-high 56 points in a win over Utah Jazz and in January 2018, became the first franchise player to hit 60 points as part of a triple-double in a win over Orlando Magic. On the last day of 2017, in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers, James sustained a grade 2 hamstring injury after scoring 40 points. He was out for two weeks. James Harden ended the season with an average of 30.4 points, gifting him his first scoring title.

The point guard has also represented the US National basketball team at the 2012 Olympics – where they won gold – and the 201 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
