In the box office, it was only a moderate success, grossing just $5.6 million extra on its $11 million budget. However, the film’s commercial success was not done as it went on to gross millions more with home video sales. It also recorded great success on the internet and TV. These subsequent successes were enough to gain Tremors a cult following which stood the test of time.

Finn is part of her father’s four children with his first wife, the former Margaret Ainsworth Wolfe. Her siblings include brother Hodding Carter IV, and sisters Catherine Carter, and Margaret Carter. Unfortunately, Carter’s parents got divorced when she was 18 years old in 1978.

Carter began acting professionally in theater becoming a member of New York’s the Circle Repertory Company. She was also a member of Old Globe Theatre in San Diego where she created the character Effie Herrington in a production of Up In Saratoga. From theater, Carter dabbled into TV and landed her first small screen gig in the daytime soap opera As the World Turns which aired on ABC. Carter portrayed Sierra Estaban Reyes Montgomery for three years from 1985 to 1988. She returned in 1994 to reprise the role.

Finn Carter would land her own big break in Tremors which was released in January 1990. For her role as Rhonda LeBeck, she was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. Tremors slowly garnered a cult following which exists even to this day. Its success was more in home videos than at the box office. The film was developed into a franchise and has since churned out at least 5 direct-video sequels, and a TV series.

Where is She Now?

Finn Carter’s career seemed to have begun waning from 1996. One could almost perceive an imminent retirement as she appeared in only guest roles in numerous TV shows from Law & Order to ER, NYPD Blue, Judging Amy, CSI and more. For a while, Carter stuck to television films many of which she played the lead. As of this writing, Carter was last seen in 2005’s independent drama Halfway Decent where she played Bonnie.

Since then, she has completely removed herself from the spotlight and thus, there is no means of telling where the former Tremors star could be. As of the time her last film was released, Carter was 8 years gone in her second marriage to James Woodruff. However, two years later, in 2007, they got divorced.
