It was on November 29, 1976, in Baltimore, Maryland that the actress was born as Ann Kay Faris. Both her parents were educators who raised her and her brother in Baltimore before the family later moved to Edmonds.

Anna Faris and her brother grew up in an irreligious home which happened to still be very conservative. For her education, she attended the Edmonds-Woodway High School and after graduating in 1994, she moved on to obtain a degree in English literature in 1999 from the University of Washington.

While her brother would later join the education line, Anna showed interest in acting since she was a child. Because of this, she was enrolled in a community drama school when she was little. Thanks to this and encouragement from her parents, the actress got her first play role at the age of 9 when she was a part of Danger: Memory!. She continued taking part in theatre productions until she appeared in a TV movie Deception: A Mother’s Secret.
