Steven John Carell was born on the 16th of August, 1962 to Edwin A. Carell an electrical engineer, and Harriet Theresa, a nurse. He was born in Concord, Massachusetts at Emerson Hospital but raised in Acton, Massachusetts. His mother was of Polish descent while his father was of German and Italian ancestry.
Steve, who was raised a Roman Catholic, attended The Fenn School, Middlesex School and Nashoba Brooks School. While in high school, he played lacrosse and ice hockey.
After high school, he joined Denison University in Ohio, where he graduated from in 1994 with a degree in history.
While at Denison, the actor joined Burpee’s Seedy Theatrical Company – an improvisational comedy troupe which was completely led and managed by students.
