He soon found his way to a local mechanic shop where his brilliance and hard work made him stand out – and it was in this local garage in Texas that he found his big break. Richard Rawlings who was then working in Texas visited the garage and asked the owner to have his best mechanic work on his car. The owner recommended Aaron and Rawlings was impressed with his skills. Years later Rawlings invited Aaron to join his ‘Hot Rod Shop’ (Gas Monkey Garage). Aaron quickly rose through the ranks to become Rawling’s assistant and lead mechanic. In 2012, the whole garage crew began to feature in the TV show “Fast N Loud” on Discovery channel. As the series became popular over the years, Aaron’s popularity also increased.
He left the garage and show in 2017 and started his own show the following year. The show Shifting Gears with Aaron Kaufman premiered on the 5th of March 2018. He recently launched another show Aaron Needs A Job and has even gone on tour.
Aaron who has always been fascinated by Ford pickups owns a company – Arclight Fabrication – that supplies parts for Ford F-100 pickup.

He later revealed that he left the show for several reasons, especially differences in professional and personal opinion.
