Abby Dalton is an American actress who is known for her numerous roles on television especially the very popular prime time television show Falcon Crest on CBS in which she played the character Julia Cumson, the disturbed and homicidal daughter of Angela Channing played by the iconic , and the mother to a young boy called Lance Cumson played by . She also featured in the ABC series Maverick, as the gorgeous character that and James Garner threw blows over. Followers of old NBC westerns may recognise her from Jefferson Drum, in which she starred alongside Jeff Richards who played a crusading journalist, as well as her guest appearance in Sugarfoot alongside Will Hutchings who was the lead protagonist.

Abby was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 15, 1935, as Marlene Wasden. She developed a love for acting very young and decided to change her name to Abby Dalton because it was more appealing. Like most actors and actresses, abbey began her career auditioning and playing small roles in unmemorable television series and films. However, her first major appearance was in an episode of Maverick called Duel at Sundown in which she played the damsel that James Garner and Clint Eastwood fought over. She went on to star in Have Gun Will Travel in which she played the love interest of actor Richard Boone who played a gunslinger.
The fast-rising actress scored a role on the hit television series Hennessey starring alongside Jackie Cooper and earning an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of the nurse Martha Hale. From 1962 to 1965, Abby played Ellie Barnes, Joey Bishop’s wife on the Joey Bishop Show. She served as a panellist on the syndicated television show Match Game, as well as Hollywood Squares, Super Password, and Here’s Hollywood. After her role in ABC’s Barney Miller was recast when the show’s pilot was rejected, she went on to appear in some episodes of The Feather and Father Gang, a crime drama.

Abby Dalton has been married twice. Her first marriage was to Jack David Smith; after dating for a while, the couple tied the knot on the 22nd of December 1960. However, the marriage ended in 1972 when they filed for divorce. Abbie and Jack have three children together including the actress Kathleen Kinmont, and the actor and writer Matthew David Smith.
Kathleen was briefly married to her mother’s Falcon Crest co-star Lorenzo Lamas, and Jere Burns. She is known for her roles in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and CIA Code Name: Alexa. Her son Matthew is known for Cyber Tracker and Mrs Sweeny amongst others. Abby later married Joe Mondragon, but the marriage imploded too.
