Marc Andre Fleury Age (Bio)
On November 28, 1984, Marc Andre Fleury was born to André (father) and France Fleury (mother) in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, a small town close to Montreal, Canada. Also in his family is his younger sister whose name we learned to be Marylène. His profile has it that he grew up in his birth town with his doting family who he adores so much.
As per his education, we are not yet in the know of what schools he attended, what he spent his childhood doing and all such experiences that form an integral part of a child’s formative life. Be that as it may, a look at his professional career, how he started and how good he is are all telltale signs of what he spent his childhood loving and doing. Ice Hockey!
The Canadian began playing ice hockey in the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) in the year 2000 with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Come the 2002-2003 hockey season, he impressed a lot with his teammates and even won a silver medal with the Canadian junior hockey team at the World Junior Championships. In this tournament, Flower was recognized as World Junior Championships MVP and World Junior Championships top goaltender. In addition to being listed in QMJHL Second Team All-Star honours, he drew a lot of accolade to himself as one player with a talent yearning for development.
Subsequently, Marc Andre Fleury was chosen as the first overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins which made him the third goalie in the NHL history to be chosen in a first draft.
Fleury made his debut in earnest as the youngest NHL goaltender at age 18 in a game against the Los Angeles Kings on October 10, 2003. In the course of developing his game amidst financial crises with the team, Marc Andre Fleury was at a time, sent back to play with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in QMJHL where he didn’t play short of expectation and was assigned to play for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League. He returned as the Penguin’s first choice goalie towards the end of the 2005-2006 season.
The Penguins lost the Stanley Cup to the Detroit Red Wings in the 2007-2008 season after he scored an own goal inside his own goal post. With sheer determination and a much better defense, they made a comeback for the title in the 2008-2009 season against the same team after which they emerged victorious with Marc Andre Fleury playing an integral role in the victory.
The champion goalie remained with the team following their 2008-2009 victory, maintaining his impressive form in the goal post up till the 2016–2017 season. With the Penguins, he lifted the Stanley Cup two more times in 2015–2016 when they defeated the San Jose Sharks in 6 games and in the 2016-2017 season as they humbled the Nashville Predators in a 6 game win.
The 2017 NFL Expansion draft saw the puck-stopper being selected by the Vegas Golden Knights with which he won his 4th Stanley Cup title when they beat the San Jose Sharks in Game 6 of their playoff series. Having signed a new three-year, $21 million contract with the Knights, more laurels are sure to come for him.
