Switzer averaged 20.9 yards per punt return, five punt return touchdowns, three receiving touchdowns and 32 receptions with 341 receiving yards in his freshman season in 2013. The following season, he recorded four touchdowns, caught 61 passes for 757 yards. In 2015 season, he had 6 touchdowns, 55 receptions with 697 receiving yards. Professional Career

Ryan Switzer alongside four of his North Carolina Tar Heels teammates was shortlisted for the 2017 NFL draft. He was selected as the 133rd overall by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the draft. Joining the Cowboys, Ryan made his first professional appearance on September 10, 2017, featuring in their game against New York Giants. He played the role of a punt returner; thus finishing the game with two kick returns and one punt return. For the rest of his rookie season, Ryan alternated between wide receiver and punt returner. At the end of the season, he was placed ninth in the list of 20 best punt returners in the NFL and the third-best among the 10 kick returners in the league.
