Robb Wells’ Bio
Wells was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, on the 20th of March 1971, but grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, his parents moved there when he was just eight years old. His father is said to have worked as a Forensic Expert with The RCMP, nothing is known about his mother and siblings – if he has any. However, an article published by The Globe and Mail in 2006 reveals that Robb Wells is a distant cousin to Stephen Harper – a former Canadian Prime Minister.
He attended Cole Harbour District High School with two of his friends and colleagues – John Paul Tremblay and Mike Clattenburg. They were a group back in high school with a bizarre sense of humour and were always getting into troubles for pulling jokes on people.
Career
After high school, Tremblay and Wells ran a chain of pizza restaurants called J.R. Capone’s but still had an eye for what they loved doing the most. Thus, while running their pizza business, they spent their spare time making comedy skits of themselves and after a while, they decided to take the bull by the horn and pursue their dreams in the entertainment industry. Thus, in 1998, they ventured into acting by producing a short film called Last Shot which starred veteran John Dunsworth. The film turned out better than they expected; it won the best actor as well as best cinematography awards.
The next year, they made a second one called Trailer Park Boys which featured the likes of Jeanne Harrison, Mike Jackson, Lucy Decoutere, Patrick Roach, and Cory Bowles. Wells also appeared in the movie as Ricky LaFleur. During the filming of Trailer Park Boys, they made a deal with Showcase to make the movie into a TV series. In 2004, Wells appeared with Dunsworth and Tremblay in the film Virginia’s Run, playing similar characters to the ones they played on Trailer Park Boys. In 2009, he appeared in Boondock Saints 2.
In 2010, he was in The Drunk and On Drugs Happy Fun Time Hour, playing himself alongside his former Trailer Park Boys cast-mates. The next year, he was in Hobo with a Shotgun as Logan. Later that same year, he made a cameo appearance in the independent film Jackhammer and as a radical Nova Scotian separatist freedom fighter/terrorist in the third season of FX TV series Archer.
In 2012, Robb Wells, alongside his partners, signed to make the Trailer Park Boys into a third movie which was released in April 2014 – after a year of filming. In that same year, he starred as Pater in the horror movie Would You Rather. He soon acquired the rights to Trailer Park Boys and made an eighth and ninth season of it which began airing SwearNet.com and on Netflix. Later that year, he co-wrote, co-produced and co-starred in Swearnet alongside his Trailer Park Boys colleagues. He is also a co-founder of Swearnet.com.
