Kony Ealy came into this world on December 21, 1991; he was born in Morganton, North Carolina. He holds an American nationality and is of Afro-American ethnicity. Growing up in Missouri, Kony attended New Madrid County Central Secondary School. While he was there, he was popular for his athletic abilities; he participated in football, basketball, as well as track and field events.
During his junior year, he played the role of a defensive end for his school football team and at the end of the season, Ealy amassed a total of 89 sacks while catching 22 passes for 501 yards and three touchdowns. In his senior year, he had 104 tackles as well as 7 pass breakups, 4 blocked kicks, 5 forced fumbles and 12.5 sacks. Kony Ealy was projected to be a third-round pick by the NFL Advisory Board because he was an underclassman. During the 2014 draft, Ealy was selected by the Carolina Panthers who named him an immediate starter for the team. He penned down a four-year contract worth $3.55 million with the Panthers in May 2014. Making his professional debut for the Panthers in their game against the Detroit Lions, he finished his rookie season having a total of 4 sacks, one fumble, and 12 tackles. He was also named to the Sports Illustrated All-Rookie Team of 2014.
In his sophomore season in 2015, Ealy was named a full-time starter for the Panthers alongside Johnson Charles. He recorded 10 quarterback pressures in six games and led the Panthers to the Super Bowl 50 championship. However, they lost to the Denver Broncos with a score of 24 – 10. After the game, Kony Ealy became the first player in Super Bowl history to record multiple sacks as well as an interception in Super Bowl competitions. Additionally, he became the first player since 1993 to record multiple sacks, a forced fumble, and interceptions in a postseason game.
During the 2016 season, Ealy featured in 16 games and had a record of 32 tackles, one interception, and five sacks. The following season, he was traded to the New England Patriots alongside a third-round draft pick in the 2017 NFL draft in exchange for a second-round draft pick. In August 2017, Ealy was released by the Patriots and was claimed by the New York Jets. He further signed up with the Dallas Cowboys in April 2018.

Kony Ealy came from a loving and caring family; he was born to Willie Ealy and his wife Nettie Jones in Morganton, North Carolina. Kony wasn’t the only child of his parents, he has three other siblings’ two sisters named Sierra Jones and LaToya Brown as well as a brother named Danny Jones. Ealy’s family suffered a great loss in September 2017 when his sister LaToya Brown kicked the bucket. The cause of her death has not been revealed until now. His other older sister Sierra has been suffering from a lifelong chromosome disorder.
